Odd one out

Lou takes off either way as soon as she starts to canter it's obvious right off the bat that she used to do this.
"Wow!"Amy says impressed
"She's a natural,"I say in shock
Lou continues to stay focused as she counts her strides she then finally makes the jump making it look effortless. My jaw is hanging low in shock. I can't believe it Lou just jumped like it was nothing.
"Still got it. Great job honey!"Dad exclaims
"Why don't you try this gate over here?"dad asks Lou as she dismounts Spartan.
Obviously Lou doesn't look very happy though, she just hands over Amy her helmet then takes off out of the ring.
What's up with her?
"Lou,"dad says to her as she storms out
Dad then turn to Amy and I in confusion
"What was that about?"he asks us I just shrug my shoulders.

We then finally head back home but we could not help but laugh at Ty's crazy idea of hooking up a dairy cow and horse to the same pole. Once we arrive Amy starts bringing Spartan back to his stall. Dad, Lou and I all just tag along.
"Alright I will Uh. I guess I'll get going,"dad says
"Yeah I guess see ya,"Lou says
"Bye dad,"Amy says
"Bye,"I finish it off. I still find it weird to call him dad. I mean I just met him. With all honesty I wish that wasn't the case.
"You know girls see you stand there like that. The two of you it reminds me how hard it was to at least say goodbye....Lou you had all those curls and Amy just wanted to get back on that pony all the time. And Liv I wish I would of known you before...,"dad says
"Me too... I guess you should have,"I say in terms of he should of known about my presence before. I know how this all works and trust me I think he should have had some kind of clue.
"Yeah dad I guess you were always telling us goodbye,"Lou says to dad
"Yeah yeah in the Rodeo days. You two were just so small I could pick you both up at the same time and just breathe in,"dad says taking a deep breath in between.
"Oh I thought you were um talking about the big goodbye,"Lou says
This obviously makes dad very uncomfortable and feel like he was put in a awkward position.
"I don't remember much hugging back then," Lou reminds him
"Well....I'm not that far out of reach these days. I'm just couple miles down the road . Amy when you get a hand on that cutting horse give me a call,"dad finishes as he leaves.
I just take a deep breath of how overwhelming this is as my sisters exchange looks between each other.
"I need water,"I say then take off to the house to find Mallory.
"So How was it?"Mallory asks
"Awkward,"I reply
"Awkward?...ok what went wrong?"Mallory asks me
"Nothing really. Lou apparently knows how to showjump. She just jumped with Spartan just to impress dad."I say
"No way Lou jumping?!"Mallory exclaims
"That's not even the weird part...I felt like a fourth wheel tagging along or even a lost puppy tagging along hoping to be adopted by a family. There's just no connection. Obviously there is one between dad, Amy and Lou but that's because they have history and then there's me,"I say in frustration
"Hey Jack should be coming back any time soon,"Ty says coming in
"Ooh More news to know the inside scoop let's go!"Mallory exclaims as we walk outside to wait for grandpa on the porch soon Amy and Lou joins waiting for Grandpa and Lisa. We then see a gray Porsche SUV pull up on our driveway they both look really happy. A little bit too much they start to reach towards each other and get ready to kiss but Mallory makes a slight noise but Ty makes a louder noise closing the front door. Oh come on! I turn to Mallory in frustration. Grandpa and Lisa then switch seats. Grandpa then comes approaching us ready to get in the house.
"How was your fishing trip grandpa?"Lou asks
"I think I caught one...even though it's kind of late in the season,"He replies as he gets in the House we all exchange looks. Ohh grandpa is in love!

Today is the day I start training again. Symphony is already at the stables I just need a ride from grandpa to get there. I walk to the kitchen to find Val Stanton fussing about something and walked off disappointed.
"Should I ask?"I ask grandpa
He gives the motion of Nah forget it.
"So are you ready?"he asks I give him a nod yes so we head out to his truck and he starts driving me to te stables.
"Are you ok there? You seem awfully quiet,"grandpa mentions
"Yeah just a lot of thinking that's all,"I replied
"That's what you gets you in trouble,"grandpa replied
I give him a slight laugh then I went silent.
"Grandpa. Did I miss out on much when dad was raising Lou and Amy with mom. It just sounds like they had great memories,"I stated
"If anyone missed out it was your dad who was missing out on you and your sisters. You did not miss much, there were mostly negative memories that over rode the few rare good memories anyways,"grandpa said
