Amy's POV-

I thought of this new information all the way home. The Librarian had reluctantly let me check out the journal with only the words "Don't lose it, Amy." To say. It was still fairly light out and I hoped I could make it home before dark. But still it made me wonder...

What else was incorrect about the history of my town now?

I had I had been told that a man named James Altsworths had discovered a patch of land that looked perfect for settling and decided to start building there; along with others. Turns out he and his group were running from the crown and that's why it's so secluded from everywhere else.

But that doesn't mean the journal is wrong. Jones O' Brian could've just stumbled upon Altsworth's colonization... Yet something doesn't tell me that's right. And what was even more mystifying being the Librarian's behavior. Shouldn't she want new information like this out there, yet she told me to keep quiet about it?

I was so confused my head felt like exploding any minuet. When I arrived home, I stumbled upstairs and collapsed in bed not bothering to change out of my clothes.

I woke up before my alarm which usually never happens and decided to get dressed for school early since sleep wasn't going to come back to me for the last 10 minuets before my alarm rang. I contemplated on whether I should bring the journal to school but finally reasoned on leaving it here, so I tucked it away in a drawer and turned off my alarm that was just starting to go off.

I wasn't used to being early, so I rearranged my backpack and realized with cold dread that I forgot to do the other history packet that Mrs. Rogers assigned to the class on Friday. How she got married I haven't a clue.

Maybe I could get the answers from Poppy before school starts.

Heading downstairs with my backpack slung over my shoulder I didn't stop until I was out the door and sprinting down the sidewalk. But Poppy was not walking to school, she wasn't even waiting by the gates and when I reached them I was panting.

Mrs. Rogers is going to kill me! She's always had it out for me!

Groaning with overexaggerated despair I lingered around not wanting to go to 1st period until the first bell rang. I didn't want to see Mrs. Rogers anymore than I had to either. On a lamppost a crow ruffled its feathered titled its head toward the clouded sky and cawed.

What do you even do when you're early to school? I suddenly begun to wish I had brought the journal to school so I could read it... But then again, I hadn't anticipated that Poppy would be gone. A quiet buzz seemed to fill the hushed whispers of the milling students. I was feeling too depressed and lonely without my upbeat friend to find out what they were about. It didn't matter I found out in Science.

Keon was there in World History and even at that point Scarlet looked a little worried and didn't bother to cast me her usual 'I want to dissect you' glances.

"Amy where is your packet?" Mrs. Rogers stopped in front of our desks and looked me in the eyes. I got out the uncompleted packet and handed it to her. She daintily grabbed it with her long ruby red fingernails and examined it with her mouth puckered up in distaste. After flipping through all the pages, she announce in her shrill voice, "It's blank, entirely, wholeheartedly blank, except for your name."

"It's written in invisible innnk...?" I lifted the pitch of voice not sure if I should make it into a question or not. She looked unimpressed while Scarlet smothered giggles behind her hand. I stamped down on her foot under the desk and her giggle turned into a curse now Mrs. Rogers' attention as well as the rest of the class's was on her.
