Amy's POV-

Claws sunk into my flesh, ripping out chunks and leaving in blinding pain. I shrieked in pain as blood ran down my muzzle in waterfalls. Shaking my head vigorously I shook my head making the creature fly off, it's claws raked across my snout painfully as it did so.

This caused others to attack, one clamped down sharp teeth down on my foreleg, wine red liquid ran down, another latched onto my back and began to tear away fur, feather, and flesh. I could feel claws and needle fine teeth piercing down into skin tissue.

I turned and bit down on the scaly creature attacking my foreleg, prickly spines decorated its boney back, so I sunk my teeth down into the junction between its head and torso where there was no spines. It let out a shrill scream but didn't let go, if anything it dug its long-jagged claws deeper into me.

With a harsh tug that ripped chunks of flesh out and brought more blood gushing out I flung the Thing out into the street as far as I could. I felt bile rise to my throat at the smell and taste of the creature in my mouth.

The one on my spine seemed to still be on it's mission to claw its way to my core. The smell of metallic gore laid heavy in the air and my fur was being soaked with it until it weighed down like a heavy blanket. I couldn't reach the creature with my jaws so, I rolled down on the ground to try and squish it off.

Unfortunately, that only made its talons scrape and barrow in downward, but the Thing did seem fazed by it. Using this I ran to a wall and crushed my back against it. The creature howled in distress, it's claws snapping off in shards in my back.

I took this detachment and sprinted as well as I could out of the alley, away from the flickering street light, and deeper into the darkness of the night.

The only reason a reason I was able to run at all must have been from adrenaline, because now... I couldn't even get up. The pain was astounding, an overwhelming thing, and I couldn't feel anything over it.

I collapsed under the window of a shop that was closed. The red sign that was flipped in the window said so in bold letters. This was a small cozy diner, a narrow pot of flowers hung in the window sill and they spilled over to hang like a curtain. Small pink star flowers opened towards the pale moon.

I just wanted to go home, to lay in my own bed and sleep for a day. Hell, I'd take Mrs. Roger over this. The blood had dried but now I think my body was more scarlet than anything. The liquid had clotted in sticky lumps across my fur some wounds taking longer than others; the shards in my flesh on my back burned painfully and didn't seem to want to stop bleeding.

I could see the stars twinkling like jewels amid a velvet backdrop; tiny treasures surrounding the moon that hung in the night sky shedding what little lucid light down. I growled at the natural satellite before laying my head back down. A soft breeze blew by and with it the smell of tall grass, rosemary and wildflowers. And a thought did occur to me, there was a place that did sound nice to go, that didn't have hard ground streets, and dark alleys, or flickering lights. A place where the moon's light could shine down onto an open grassy field.

The meadow.

I wearily pulled myself up and began to limp in the smell of the meadow, the meadow would be better than here. Soon I came across a path that I semi recognized, in the dark it was hard to establish, and I followed it.

I pushed past undergrowth and the wound on my back reopen and blood trickled down layers of dried claret. By the time a finally made it through to the meadow, brambles stuck to the underside of my belly and stray branches clung to my fur. I emerged into a sea of golden tall grass. They swayed with the wind together in one direction creating a tide.

Now under the moon, it didn't cast an ominous glow like the town. The meadow was mystical with the moon hanging above it, waterfalling pastel glow down on the meadow's field.

I began to wade through the grass that came up to my chin, I had to hold my head up higher to see anything. The lengthy stems of clumps of lavender sprouted from the ground released their scent when I brushed past them. And in the middle of it all the grey rock stood broad and towering; it was more of a dark shadow at night.

Scrambling up the smooth incline of the rock, leaving claw marks as I did so, I went to lay on top and let the blowing of the wind coupled with the exhaustion drowning every muscle, lull my eye into closing.

****

It was still dark when I woke up, but a bit of fatigue was taken away from my body and with it taken away I felt like biting myself. If I could find my way to the meadow, a familiar place, then I should be able to find a recognizable route back home. I slid off the rock with new found determination to get home that not even the throbbing of my wounds bothered me.

I sprinted down the street, tearing open my leg wound and leaking out ruby blood, but I didn't care anymore, I just wanted to get home, home to bed, home to family, even if it was one that despised me. I didn't want to be trapped in this damn body anymore!

Soon I recognized the house I had lived in for most of my life and I nearly gave a yelp of joy at the sight. But I came across a dilemma as I ran to the front door; I couldn't open the door with my paws! I ran around to the back were the door was unlocked and tried to nudge it with my nose; it clicked open and swung ajar.

I pranced around in a circle at my accomplishment before entering and closing the door behind me. It creaked in protest before closing and my ears perked up to hear if anyone had noticed. Concluding that no one had I raced upstairs silently where I came to yet another obstacle.... Another door, this time it was my room.

I felt like whining now; grabbing the handle in my mouth I twisted and pulled on it, hearing the click that it had opened I nudged my nose in the small crack and tossed it open. It pulled agape soundlessly and I slid into my room where I was met with blinding light as the light switch was flipped on.

"You look like you could use a little help." Said a voice.
