Amy's POV-
The bullet fired, it would've come in direct contact with the center with my chest if it weren't for my mother pushing Richard's arm at the last second so now the fragile bullet impacted my leg, the bullet shattered in my skin. Blood spurted from the wounds and I fell back to the ground in pain. My white fur was stained red and soon blood dripped down the sides of the cage. I crouched down and let out a hiss of pain.
My mother was still gripping Richard's arm but now she let go like she was gripping fire. Richard snarled like a mad dog and rammed the butt of the gun into her cheek. She stumbled to the ground. First there was shock in my mother's eyes, then there was only anger. Leaping up she formed her hand into a claw and slapped. Ruby painted acrylic nails dug lines of crimson into flesh. Splatters of blood painted the floor.
"Why did you disobey me!?" Richard hissed through clenched teeth. "I thought this is what you wanted."
My mother's lip curled into a scowl and her eyes held a hint of glistening tears "I never wanted death, not of my own child. She may be different but she's still mine!" She screamed and took her other hand, ruby red paint shining like blood, and slapped him again creating more jagged rips in flesh. Blood dripped down Richard's face and he reloaded his gun again. Aiming he fired at my mother's stomach. A red star of crimson bloomed from her clothes and from her pale lips she coughed up blood. Mom fell to her knees, then on her stomach where she fell still.Richard put the gun in a holster and a hand through his disheveled hair. Feeling his cheek he scowled at the blood that came off from his hands then exited in a huff.
My mother lay twitching in a growing pool of her blood, but with a shaking hand she pushed herself on her side so she was facing me. She locked eyes with me and I saw tears running out of her grey eyes. They weren't shards of rock that I known, instead they were softer like an overcast sky. She reached into her back pocket and pulled out a ring of keys and tossed tossed them haphazardly towards the cages. "I'm sorry..." She breathed out before her eyes closed and her breathing slowed.
The bleeding of my leg had stopped by now but my fur was crusted in red blood. The ring of keys was caught on the edge of one of the cages and it glinted in the poor lighting. My eyes stayed fixed on the ring of keys as the lights flickered and buzzed. I didn't even think of the pain any more. Our way out was right there- right out of reach.
The lime-green demon hadn't stopped freaking out and was now shaking like a leaf in the corner of the cage. I couldn't think of anything to do so I curled up where there wasn't any blood and tried to rest.
When I awoke I could feel my energy pulsing under my skin. So I took it as I sign I had recovered from using it all up. Any person to come through that door I'd shock. I don't care who it was. I growled the energy rippled beneath my skin but I couldn't force it out all that came out was weak crackle of charge.
"Stop trying you're going to hurt yourself." Jack Mind linked me.I sighed and gave up for the time being, he was right. I looked over and down to my father who was curled up and facing the corner of the cage. Trendles of frost were covering the floor of the cage around him. His head was hanging in a defeatfull way. But even trying to exercise my energy made me tired again and my eyes were soon closing once more.
***********
The second time I opened my eyes it was to a scratching noise in the ceiling. I scooted over to the edge of the cage and peered out. Cracks were spreading out in the center of the ceiling. Eventually a part of the ceiling came crashing to the ground and a brown furry head poked out of the hole it was followed by mole-like claws then a canine body that dropped onto the floor. One more body followed after and I recognized it Kate as it came tumbling. My heart lit up. I ran to the edge of the cage and pressed my face up against the bars. The third demon shifted into the small peti form of Mia and I couldn't believed she had come here on her own.
