*Isolde's POV*
"Possession magic as in-"
"Yes Sol, as in he can take control of another but it's not that simple." My mother explained. "He can speed things up such as age or he can make himself faster."
"So that's why my hunting pack disappeared so fast without a trace," Allifair commented. Elisabel nodded her head. "That's right. That's also why no one has gotten a really good look at him all these years he's been around."
"So how are we suppose to stop him if we can barely see him?" Allifair asked as he laid on the ground and winced from Bellamy touching one of his broken ribs. "We cant stop him at the moment-"
"Why the hell is that?" Allifair interrupted loudly lifting his head slightly off the ground. "Like I was saying, we cant stop him at the moment because Dusk has been possessed by the Rogue Wolfs shadow."
"So you're telling us that this black mist is actually his shadow and it can possess anyone." Essence said. Elisabel nodded her head."What a load of shit! Why the hell should we believe this trash?" Blythe asked rudely as my mother calmly responded. "You should believe every word because I've seen it happen before."
"How, where?" I asked as my mom looked down at the ground and answered. "One day, a wolf came up to me and let me join his pack, that wolf and I became close friends before Rogue's shadow came and killed the wolf and almost killing me."
"A wolf?" I questioned as Essence spoke above me. "I heard that one of the wolves in a nearby pack died of an unknown cause, what pack were you in?"
"I was in the Veneno Wolfpack," Elisabel answered. "I thought so," Essence begun. "that's why your name sounded so familiar. You were with the Poison Wolves."
"That's right Veneno means poison in Spanish," I mumbled to myself as I looked over at my mom still gazing at the ground."The wolf you mentioned," Essence began. "his name was Dagger wasn't it?" I glanced back over at my mom as I noticed that her eyes were close to breaking into tears. She didn't speak in a response to Essence's question she just slowly nodded her head. "He was a good wolf till the end." Essence commented as I heard the sadness in her voice. "What happened to him?" I asked as my mom rubbed her eyes and sniffled. "He died protecting me from the shadow." My mom answered quietly as her eyes became red and puffy from rubbing them. I wanted to say something but I didn't, I just stood there with my mouth closed feelings of sadness overwhelming me. 'I never knew my mom hide so many secrets from me until now.' I thought to myself.
"Dusk!" A familiar voice cried out as all of our heads rotated, following the sound of the cry. I gasped as I ran up to Dusk but was pulled back by a thin surprisingly strong arm. "Mom what are you doing Dusk needs our help."
"If you get any closer it will just hurt him more," Elisabel responded as she held me tight. "the process has started. The shadow that has possessed Dusk's body will continue speeding up his aging process until one he's dead,""Two?" I asked, nervous to hear what the answer is. "The other option is that Dusk's mind and body will be completely under the Rogue Wolfs control."
I gasped as not just me, but everyone looked over at Dusk's unconscious body with worry in our eyes.
"So Dusk will keep growing until he's either dead or being controlled by that monster." Essence repeated in a soft voice, almost like a whisper. Elisabel nodded her head. "As much as I hate to say this but yes that's what will happen to him."
"No, there has to be something we can do to help him right?" Allifair asked in a panicked sad voice. My mom closed her eyes slowly shaking her head. "All we can do is wait to see what the Rogue Wolf will do with him. At this point, all of us are completely at his mercy."
"The Rogue Wolf really is as terrible as the rumors say," Al whispered as he shot a worried glance over at Dusk, who was lying beside him on the ground."Hey mom," I began to ask. "do you know how long it takes for the wolf to come out of this?" I finished asking, pointing down at Dusk's unconscious state. My mom shrugged her shoulders but before she could say anything Essence replied. "Last time something like this happened it was also another one of the Blood Wolfpack members."
"How is the wolf doing now?" I asked, hoping for a good answer like 'oh the wolfs fine'. but the answer I got made my heart sink. "He is still unconscious, but he isn't possessed by the Rogue Wolfs shadow anymore.""Then why is he still unconscious?"
"We still don't know." Essence looked down at the ground with sad eyes. "In that case, there are three possible things that could happen. One, the wolf could die, two, the wolf becomes his little puppet, or three, the wolf could stay unconscious." I pointed out to everyone. "That option is already out the window. The process of fast aging has begun I think." Bell commented with worry and fear in her voiceEveryone's heads rotated in the direction of where Dusk was laying as Bellamy had a worried look on her face as she stood between Dusk and Allifair. "Hey um guys...is it just me or does Dusk look bigger?" Allifair commented as he tried scooting away from Dusk. "Forget his size changing, what is that black stuff pumping in and out of him?" I asked concerned. "That would be Rogue's shadow speeding up his aging," Elisabel answered as we watched the shadow change Dusk.
The shadow would leak out of Dusks body but slowly disappear into his body again almost in the rhythm of a heartbeat. It was different every time when it leaked out onto the ground, the color would change. The shadow originally looked like, well a shadow faded black but as the process continued it became more of a solid black and then a dark red like blood. Dusk's unconscious body began to shiver violently every time the shadow would return back to his body. I took a step back as his entire body started to shake uncontrollably as Al received some help from Bell on backing away from Dusk. We all watched the horror before us wondering what was going to happen to Dusk, wondering if he would age until he was dead or until the Rogue Wolf was happy with his results. I wanted to turn around, to not watch, to look away from the horror before me but I couldn't. My eyes stayed on Dusk as his face twisted into nothing but pain until his eyes burst open.
His eyes were finally open and all he did was lay there, like some kind of robot, staring into nothing. He wasn't looking around he wasn't making eye contact he just stared off into the distance until Allifair spoke softly. "Dusk? Buddy...little bro you okay?"
Dusk slowly lifted himself off of the ground from a laying position to a sitting stance. His fur changed from a shiny coat of black to a tangled, wild mess of gray. His head twisted slowly over to Al as if he was a zombie, an unreadable expression on his now less friendly face until Dusk and Allifair made eye contact for the first time in a while. A smile crept on Al's face as he tried to stand but only fell back to the ground wincing in pain. "Dusk... it's me, Al. Say something, tell us your okay?" Allifair softly said as he searched Dusk's eyes for a sign. Dusk continued to stare blankly at Al, Al's smile slowly fading away from his lips as Dusk opened his mouth and in a deep voice spoke. "Yes master, I'm on my way."
The overgrown Dusk we once knew and loved stood up and glanced around until he took his first steps passing Allifair without giving him a second glance. We watched as Dusk continued to walk farther away from us and deeper into the woods. "Dusk where are you going?" Allifair shouted out to Dusk but he didn't react to Al's call and disappeared in the cluster of trees.
"What was that about?" I asked seeing the sadness and confusion in Allifair's face. "Whatever that was it wasn't Dusk," Al replied as he faced away from the woods and looked at me. Everyone looked over at Elisabel, probably wondering the same thing about what just happened. "Your right Allifair, that wasn't Dusk. The Dusk we know is gone all that is left is the Dusk that'll listen to one wolf and that's Rogue. All of us are just a faded memory to him now." My mom answered leaving everyone speechless and looking into the woods wondering about Dusk and what the Rogue Wolf will have him do next.
