Song of Loralai- The Series

The Return

       Michael and Severus were sitting in their compartment on the Hogwarts Express, looking out the window towards the great Black Lake. They were both excited for another school year, but even more excited to see their sea-faring friend Loralai. It had been an entire summer, and they both were dying for a chance to see her again. They wondered if she had any fun over break, hanging out with the Selkies that also resided in the Lake.

      Michael was sitting in the compartment, reading a copy of the Daily Prophet, and Severus was gazing out the window, when their compartment door opened. At the door were four boys they knew well, a bit too well.

      James Potter, with messy black hair, glasses, and a stuck up attitude. Peter Pettigrew. The wimp of the group, blonde hair, and always following the rest around, stuttering. Sirius Black. Black hair, dashing good looks, and always the one to join any fight they got into. Then there was Remus Lupin. Not a small boy, but not a big one either. He had hazelnut brown hair, and a scar on his cheek. He wasn't skinny, but not large either. You could say he was the definition of average. He always tried to diffuse fights, and almost always failed. He never took part in their bullying, but more stayed out of their way.

      "Well, If it isn't Snivellus and Mikey." Potter said, snickering. Severus continued to look out the window, and Michael just started at his Daily Prophet, making potter get agitated. He grabbed the Daily Prophet out of Michael's hand. "Hmm. Not very interesting. But then, you really aren't the interesting sort are you?" He said, making the rest of them laugh just that much harder, except Lupin who stood in the back.

       "Except maybe that girlfriend of yours. Now there is a looker." he said, sitting next to Michael, but he was already reading a book from his luggage. Michael glanced at Potter as if he was a boring toy he had already grown out of, and went back to reading.

      Potter then got up and sat next to Sev, who was also playing the silent game. "What about you, Snivellus? Got any girlfriends i don't know of?" he said, punching his arm. "Come on Potter, let's just go." said Lupin, and Potter turned around and looked at him. "They're no fun. Let's go find Lucy." he said, and waited. Potter looked at Michael then back at Sev. "You know, you are brilliant Lupin. Let's go." he said, getting up and exiting the compartment with his friends.

     The two boys sighed collectively. The Marauders, as they liked to call themselves, were a real handful. But thankfully enough, the train was pulling to a stop. They were here.

     Quickly, they grabbed their luggage and nearly fell out of the train, and ignoring the rest of the students, they immediately went down to the Black Lake.

  

    Loralai was swimming laps on the surface, having heard the train come, when she saw them in the distance running towards her. She swam to the beach, and when she reached land her Siren features started to change, painlessly, into human form. Using a charm she created, whenever she turned from mermaid to human or vice versa, she would keep her clothes but they would change. She walked up to them in her Hogwarts apparel and smiled, hugging the two tightly.

    "Nice to see you again, Loralai." Michael said, beaming at his friend. "Yeah, it was a hell of a summer without you." Sev said, but he wasn't telling the full truth. Over summer break, he had met a girl that lived not too far from him. She had long red hair and the most beautiful eyes. She had been at Hogwarts as long as him, he just hadn't noticed her that much, what with Loralai and what happened to her last year.

     Loralai picked up their luggage, one suitcase in each hand. "Well let's go then! Before they lock the doors behind us." she said, and she started walking without them towards the main doors, making them try to catch up.
