Sonic stood in front of the Master Emerald, smiling like he normally would, with his arms crossed over his chest, "Sonic..." A female voice calls from the emerald, "You have been chosen. Now you must protect the emerald, and your life. If you lose it... You lose yourself, too." This voice belonged to Tikal, a female echidna that was imprisoned inside of the massive gem.
"I thought Knuckles was supposed to gaurd it." Sonic, slightly confused then smiled, though, "What? Did he lose it too many times, and now your giving it to someone else?"
"No..." Tikal sighed, not really happy about his comment, "The emerald is one with you, Sonic." She sighed again.
"What is that supposed to mean?" Sonic questions, uncrossing his arms, walking closer to the emerald, "I can't be... That... With some emerald, can I?"
"Yes..." Tikal replied calmly, "The emerald is now in you, like I and Chaos are in it. Now it is in you, and that is a good thing, though."
"How is this a good thing?" Sonic questions her again, getting her to sigh. She wasn't one to get mad at someone for not knowing the answer to something, because it would be impossible to know everything.
"The emerald can give you a greater connection with the Chaos Emeralds!" She replied, "This will be very helpful when you use them." Sonic nodded at that, but doesn't say anything, "Just don't use it for evil... Why am I saying this, of course you won't, will you?"
"Of course not!" Sonic laughed, "You can count on me!"
"Thank you, Sonic!" She beams, "I'm so glad you understand. I just want to warn you tha-"
