The Emerald Within

Prologue- Before The "Chaos"...

        "Relax, Tails." A cobalt colored hedgehog assured, the tone of being annoyed was all too apparent in his voice, as he spoke, "It's going to be fine." Tails looked down at his feet, then back up to Sonic, with small tear building up in his eyes, as he couldn't bear the thought of Sonic leaving on his own, again.

        "But it'll probably..." Tails started, but stopped as he noticed he was getting glared at. His eyes began to water, and he was blushing miserably, "I don't want you to go, Sonic! Please! Don't do this! I don't want to lose you!"

        Here he goes again! Sonic rolled his eyes, with no emotion was present in his gaze, as he looked back down at Tails. He's being worse than Amy used to act around me... It;s a good thing she stopped... But I have to live with him, though!

        "Fine... I won't go." Sonic crosses his arms, his face still holding no emotion, as he carefully watched the young two-tailed fox become closer, if that was possible. After a long hug-like closeness, Tails looked up at him with longing eyes.

        "Sonic?" Tails whimpers, his eyes showing an emotion that Sonic couldn't place, as he stared into them. Confusion only slightly definite in the seemingly emotionless gaze of the cobalt colored hedgehog.

        "What's the matter Tails." Sonic said in a sympathetic tone, and concern was now very apparent in his expression, as he looked down at him, "You can tell me... If it's important, and it's really troubling you, then go ahead and say it..." Tails, however, began blushing worse, if that was even possible, at this point, but he took a deep sigh-like breath, as he glanced to the sides, then back to Sonic. Tails opened his mouth, to answer, but as he is about to, he is interrupted by a loud, boisterous voice is, that is clearly heard, causing both of them jumped in surprised, but also to smile in slight amusement.

        "WAIT!" A pink hedgehog, formally known as Amy Rose, yelled from behind an ebony and crimson hedgehog, who was running, not at full speed, as that would make it completely unfair for Amy, but was unknowingly running towards Sonic, not realising that he was only a few feet away. Amy stopped, yelling in a laughing tone, "Shadow! Watch out!"

        Looking ahead, with a small, short gasp, he tried to stop instantly, but the hedgehog, named Shadow, stumbled, falling onto the laughing, cobalt colored hedgehog, who immediately stopped his laughter, due to the pain, that was densely, and rabidly, throbbing through his whole, lower back.

       "Dang it, Shadow!" Sonic growled agitatedly, "What the hey were you thinking!!" Shadow smiled at his attempt to not have to say it another way, knowing it was because Tails was standing there, and that Tails had forbidden at his house/workshop, jumping to his feet.

        "You don't have to say it like that, my dear, Sonic!" Shadow laughed at Sonic's expression, "We all know you just don't want to be a bad example for our beloved children... But it seems you must have forgotten something!"

        "What would that be?" Sonic, yet again, growled, but in a pained manner, as he got up as well, but a lot more slowly. Shadow chuckled mischievously, taking a small step back.

        "We don't have any, Sonic!" Shadow jumped back, laughing, as he dodged from getting kicked by the enraged, cobalt colored hedgehog, "That would be almost nearly impossible!... Or would it?..." He looked over at Amy, who was running over to his side.

        "Don't hurt my Shadow, Sonic!" Amy yelled, causing Sonic to flinch slightly, as she pulled out her hammer, as a way to intimidate him, as he has had experiences with it. Amy then smiles over at her mentioned ebony and crimson hedgehog, who shrugs his shoulders showing slight embarrassment, much like how Sonic used to.
