The Emerald Within

Chapter 6

        "What are you doing here?!" Knuckles yelled at him, baring his fangs. The reptile did a dismissive wave, turning to Tails, smiling in a very nervous manner.

        "By the way, my name is Velocity Velociraptor... If you don't mind... I'd like to tell you a little something about this..." The reptile says in a unusually small tone. Tails nodded, sitting back at his computer, the reptile following, "I see what this is, but what needs to be put in..." Velocity began working on the computer, his Tails moving from side to side.

        "Oh... Wow, Amy!" Tails beamed, getting her to come over, "There is a way to do it, without harming anyone!" Amy cheered, leaping from where she was, onto Sonic, which is something she hardly did now, but in this moment... She did.

        "That's great, Tails!" Amy beam, practically yelling in Sonic's ears, causing him to flatten them against his head, as it was hurting them severely, "When can we do it?"

        "It occurs only once every 2 months, so... soon." Velocity explains, "And if I'm not mistaken... He should come... Tomorrow."

        "Who?" Sonic questions, after Amy finally released him. Tails gets up from his chair, walking over to Sonic smiling cheerfully.

        "You remember Ken, right?" Tails replies, answering his question, with another, that would give him the answer.

        "I thought he preferred being called Knuckle, though." Tails nodded, glancing over at Knuckles.

        "Yea... He got over that, but anyways." Tails started, looking up at the ceiling, "When he was sent back to his world, someone named Robotnik the Squirrel made it where he can come here, but only for a week, and he can only come every 2 months, the month of arrival happening tomorrow, so we can see him then!"

        Shadow nodded, but then sighs, "And if he refuses to do this for us?" Tails' eyes widened, and he leapt at Shadow, tackling him, causing him to land on his back, where Tails was sitting on his stomach.

        "Don't say that!" Tails yelled in a frantic tone, "He'll help us, and you know he will, won't he?" Shadow shook his head, causing Tails to growl, "Why do you keep saying that? He's gonna help us!"

        "You know how he is, Tails! He won't just help you, because it's what needs to be done..." Shadow reminded, getting Tails to slowly shake his head, his eyes glistening in sadness, "He has to have benefit from it! What will he get from doing this... As far as we know... Nothing!" Tails hung his head in defeat, getting off of him, slowly walking up to Sonic, where he rested his face into his shoulder.

        Sonic began to feel a wet substance where Tails' head was, and sighed, knowing what it was. Not long after, he felt a little light headed, swaying slightly, getting Tails to look up at him, with slight fear in his eyes. Sonic glared over at Shadow, who was still lightly glaring over at Tails, as he had stood up, "Sonic?" Tails whimpered, with sadness apparent in his voice.

        "What's your problem, Shadow?" Sonic asked in a low voice, causing him to just look away, "Couldn't you see that he was just trying to actually be positive about it?"

        "There isn't anything to be positive about..." Shadow sighed, slightly looking down. Sonic walked up to him, a strange energy outlining him. Shadow, not looking at him, or expecting anything, at the moment, could see this, and looked up, only to be basically shoved, but the energy made it hurt worse, as he slammed into the wall.

        You must control your anger, Sonic! This voice belonged to Tikal, as she was communicating to him through the Master Emerald. And if I choose not to? This voice belonged to Sonic, but his tone was more harsher than normal. Sonic jumped back, dodging an attack from Shadow, who really didn't want to do it. What if I don't control it? What will happen then? What will you do about it? You can't stop me! Sonic gained a sudden look of hatred in his eyes, as he stared over at Shadow, raising one hand in front of himself, causing him to close his eyes, and whimper in pain, as it felt as though he was being squeezed by an unknown energy force, causing it to somehow burn from the inside. I can stop you... Tikal warned.

        The energy suddenly disappeared, causing Sonic to fall to his knees, and Shadow fell onto his side, holding both, as he kept his eyes shut. Sonic's eyes were also closed, as he was breathing heavily, "Sonic?" Tails whispered, running over to his side in a panic, touching him lightly, but he then suddenly falls on his stomach... Unconscious.
