The Emerald Within

Chapter 5

        Sonic's ear twitched, before he just stood there, almost in slight shock, "Terrible news?!' Sonic seemed almost frantic, as he was speaking very quickly, which was something he hardly did, "Will you tell me all ready?! What bad news did you find?!"

        "You know how that squirrel was after the Master Emerald?" Amy questions, recieving a quick nod, from Sonic, who was breathing slightly heavily, as he was beginning to worry as to what the bad news might have been.

         "Now you must protect the emerald, and your life. If you lose it... You lose yourself, too."

        "If that squirrel, who has the power to do so... Takes the emerald back out of you..." Amy paused, looking down at her feet, as tears filled her eyes, at the thought, passing through her mind. She goes up to Shadow, hugging him, snuggling her face into his chest, where she stayed, as she was unable to complete her statement.

        "You'd basically be drained of all life force in your body, which will then be concealed inside of the Master Emerald." Tails explains, doing a deep sigh, before continuing on, "It just basically means that you, as being your spirit, or whatever you'd like to call it, will be completely taken from... You..." Tails sighed, looking down, but back up at Sonic, who had his official panic face on, as he could do nothing but stare at him in shock. Not by what Tails had said, but by how calm Tails had said it.

        "So that must be why that squirrel did it... To get rid of Sonic... He would be the first to do it..." Shadow looked over at Sonic, who was even more worried looking, as he ran over to Shadow, literally shoving Amy away, as he burried his face into Shadow's white chest fur, which caused Shadow to blush slightly, "But it didn't even look like it knew what it was doing, when it did it, itself... What makes you think it can even do it?"

        "His name is Robotnik..." A voice is heard saying, getting all in the room, except Sonic, who still had his face buried into Shadow's white chest fur. It was the reptile from the other day, which got Knuckles to jump to a fighting position, "The squirrel... His name is Robotnik..."
