The Emerald Within

Chapter 3

        Sonic's shoulder was suddenly being shook violently, "SONIC!" Amy yelled, shaking his arm as hard as she could, to wake him up, "WAKE UP!"

        "Amy!" Sonic's voice was shaky, due to him being shook, as violently as he was, "Why are you doing that for?!" Amy stopped, squealing in delight.

        "Oh, Sonic!" She hugs him tightly, getting him to sit up, "Your finally awake!"

        "He is?!" Tails sounded surprised to hear this.

        "Yes!" Sonic gasped, panting slightly when he was let go, "I'm awake! Why do you sound so surprised by this?"

        "You were out for a month, or so, Sonic." Shadow explained, as he sat beside him, "We kinda though you wasn't going to wake up, so we sat her and waited for you to signs of life... Amy had to try one last time, before we officially gave up on waiting."

        "You mean it was almost as if I was... Dead?" Sonic couldn't believe it. How... And why did this happen? When he stood, it seemed to be a much different atmosphere than the last time he reconized it. It seemed more lighter, and had more energy flowing through it, so he smiled, like he normally did, and looked around. Nothing had changed, so why did it feel so different? So much... Better, "Do you know why?"

        "Not yet, but there is something strange about your life energy readings." Tails explained, shaking his head slowly, then showing a chart-like thing, that was supposed to explain what he was talking about, "It is a lot higher than normal, but it couldn't be what I thought it was. I just couldn't, but it might be."

        "And he still hasn't told us what that something is yet." Shadow sighed, standing beside Sonic, as he had looked down at his feet, "What exactly did you think it was, again? You never did really tell us, while he was unconscious."

        "The energy source, that represents his life, is a lot higher than it should be, like I said earlier." Tails said then sighed, as a replacement for some sort of dramatic pause, "It is the same as the energy produced by the Chaos Emeralds, meaning the something that is nearly impossible, due to a recent encounter."

        "What is it, Tails?" Sonic asked, walking over to him, placing a sympathetic hand on his shoulder, "It's ok if it's wrong... What do you think it could be?" Tails looked down at his feet, with a sigh, then back up at Sonic.

        "The Master Emerald is somehow in you, and although that may sound odd, but I'm still trying to figure out how it's possible." Sonic appeared to be having an odd flashback moment, as he seemed very distant from them, "Sonic?" Tails waved his hand in front of Sonic's face, getting him to shake his head, as he snapped out of his trance-like state.

        "Tikal said that it was in me too... How is that possible?" Sonic still didn't understand, and Tails looked even more confused, now.

        "Tikal?" Tails tilted his head slightly, as a question mark could have been seen over it, "But she's in the Master Emerald, and you were unconscious this whole time... How could she have told you about it?"

        "She told me in my dream." Sonic replied calmly, regaining his confidence, as he smiled is his usual way, "Well... At least I guess it was a dream."

        "That actually would make sense." Shadow said, after noticing Tails' confusion worsen, "If she's in the Master Emerald... And the Master Emerald is in him... She can communicate to him... Through Master Emerald." Amy looked worried, for some reason, and hugged him tightly, but was pushed off almost immediately, "Will you quit doing that, Amy?! This is a serious moment, so we don't need you attaching yourself to him every time he's not looking over at you!" Amy sighed, sitting down where she had fallen, as she listened to them talk about it longer, and she still continued to stare, as if he was the only thing there to look at, and sighed.
