Twizzlers and Cotton candy

The next morning I regretfully see that I woke up at ten AM, which is later then I'd ever like to wake up. I feel icky if I wake up after 8. And right now I really don't need to feel icky. Charlie is up and about already and Diana is too.

I walk into the kitchen my arms sore and my head foggy. "Rowen! Diana was going to take the twins and Charlie to Regina's chocolate. Would you be interested? They can wait." I shake my head. "You sure? It'd be good to get out." She looks me in the eye with a look that says, you have to go whether you like it or not. "Fine," I grab an apple and head to change.

I hear Diana having some harsh words with her mother as I change. I shudder, why did Robin have to be so demanding? I pull on ripped (not stylistically) jeans, and a t-shirt that's my favorite color, purple. I walk out and see Diana in a rainbow crop top and high waisted mom jeans, her septum piercing is a bright red. "Now you two take care of the littles. Here's $30 that should cover the candy." Diana nods. And grabs the cash. "Charlie, Brynn and Wynter c'mon." Diana takes charge and huddles the kids after her and out the door.

Diana forcefully tells me to watch the kids from the back and she'll stay in the front, I agree because I don't want to faint again or get in a fight.

We make our way into the candy store entitled; "Regina's chocolate" Diana smiles brightly and I feel the urge to kiss her, but A. the kid's are around and B. she's mad at me and I'm mad at her. "You each can pick out two of something small." She instructs the littles. Brynn and Wynter scurry around eyeing their favorite candies. Charlie looks overwhelmed and I realize he'd never been in a candy store.

I'd only been in a candy store once when my Dad was around.

Flashback...

I giggle as Mommy and Daddy swing me back and forth between them. Mommy giggles and pats her huge pregnant belly. "Let's get my princess a chocolate bar, shall we?" Dady smiles. "YES! YES! AND YES!" I squeal. We pop into the store and giggle as dad puts Twizzlers up to his mouth like vampire teeth.

Back to present time

Diana grabs a huge bag of cotton candy and smiles at it. After the littles have picked what they want ( I help charlie find a small nerds packet and a small packet of lego candies) Diana goes up to purchase the items. "Would you like anything?" Diana asks. I nod and grab a Twizzlers pack. Dad left when I was ten and no one has any clue why he did. We were a happy stable family.

Diana purchases everything and then shoos us out of the store. "Hey, Rowen." She walks beside me. "After we drop off the littles I think we should go to the park and talk things through. We can't live like this." She pauses then adds; "if it means breaking up then that's what it means. We can't live in the same house and be enemies." The truth in her words is harsh.

We drop off the kids and head to the park. "Look Rowen." Diana clenches her cotton candy bag. "It's so hard to see the one you love suffering. And you were. I didn't mean to hurt you and regret it." She guides me to a bench in front of a pond. "I can't live this way though. You getting upset at me when I try to help." I blink back tears. "But you stripped me of my family, shouldn't I be upset?" I stick a Twizzler in my mouth and angrily chew. "I wanted to help you! Maybe this wasn't meant to work?" Diana sighs. "I love you and I don't want to lose you. But if we're not meant to be that's that." I sigh too.

"We can't live like this." I stick two Twizzlers up my mouth to make it look like I have vampire teeth. I look towards Diana and she laughs. We laugh together as she styles cotton candy like hair. "I love you. And I know you mean't well." I look at her and choose to let love win. We then kiss my Twizzler teeth and her cotton candy hair.
