"Ugh, I hate Mondays!" Cleo complains. She leans against the locker next to mine as she waits for me to grab my books.
"Same." I shut my locker and we head to homeroom. While we walk down the hallways, Silas passes us and heads to his own locker. We exchange glances and his strong scent hits me again. It's not an overwhelming smell, it's the perfect mixture of leather and mint. He gives me a head nod and I continue walking with Cleo.
"Hey Ro." Matt greets me and I take my seat.
"Hey, Matt nice to see you too." Cleo sarcastically remarks and I chuckle. Matt apologizes and soon enough morning prayers start. In the middle of announcements, Silas walks through the door and everyone stares at him. The teacher gestures for him to sit down and he obliges. After prayers, everyone sits down and Mrs. Monroe walks up to him.
"Do you have a note?" She holds her hand out and gives him a bright smile.
"Nope." He returns her mocking smile.
"You need to go get one." She replies and he rolls his eyes.
"Whatever." Silas gets up and walks out of the room. Snickers came from across the room.
"I've heard Emma talk about Silas." Cleo says. She noticed my engagement towards the group of girls.
"Not surprising." I reply and shrug my shoulders. The classroom was small enough to the point where I am able to hear anyone's conversation. I eavesdropped on Emma's conversation with Sophia. I hushed Cleo and Matt as they talked but I'll apologize for it later.
"Should I talk to him?" Emma asks Sophia nervously.
"You should at least try. What's the worst that could happen?" Sophia reassures her and Emma nods.
"Fine, what should I even say?" Emma asks nervously.
"Just say, 'hey, what's up?'" Sophia replies.
"Really?" Emma questions and Sophia nods.
"I'll do it when he comes back." Emma states.
"Are you done yet?" Cleo taps my shoulder and I nod.
"What did she say? I wasn't paying attention." She adds.
"Nothing important. She just wants to talk to him." I reply. I get up to grab a tissue from Mrs. Monroe's desk which is on the other side of the classroom. I blow my nose and squirt some hand sanitizer into my hands. As I walk back to my desk, Emma is sitting in it and she's turned around facing Silas. Cleo and Matt both shrug their shoulders and I stand there awkwardly.
"Hey... Can I have my desk back?" I ask her but I guess she didn't hear me.
"Emma?" I repeat myself. Still no answer. Silas sees me and he points at me.
"Oh hey Rosy!" She smiles and I give her a smile back.
"Hey, can I have my desk back?" I ask her and she gets up and leaves. She waves at Silas and he just raises his eyebrows at her. Why am I happy about that?
"I think he's into me." I hear Emma whisper to Sophia as she passes me.
"Thanks." He tells me as I take my seat.
"For what?" I ask him.
"Making her leave." He replies.
"You didn't want to talk to her? She seems like your type." I ask him. He scrunches his eyebrows together.
"Sorry! I didn't mean it like that, I thought that you might've thought that she was pretty or something..." I try to explain myself but his straight face turns into a small grin.
