I stood outside of Jeon Manner. Once I step inside, I'll officially be a Jeon family servant. I'll no longer be just the silly lab assistant that nobody notices. I took one final deep breath to calm my nerves; you got this Ah Li-Na, he's just Dr Jeon's son. You've got this.
With that, I stepped inside. It was like the outside world completely disappeared. Once the doors closed behind me everything went silent. I looked around the foyer which was nicely lit by all the natural lighting flowing in through the large glass windows. My footsteps echoed throughout the house as I walked over to the main dinning hall. The heavy doors of the dinning hall creaked as I pushed them open.
"You're late," a voice stated from across the room. There was a long wooden table stretching from one side of the hall to the other and sitting at the end was none other than Jeon Jungkook himself. The other servants were seated evenly across the rest of the table. I looked over to see the empty seat next to Jungkook. That was my seat I bet.
"Sorry, there was traffic."
"Take a seat," he commanded.
I did as I was told and all eyes were on me as I made my way across the massive room to my seat next to Dr Jeon's son.
"Now that everyone is here, let's begin." I scanned the room for any clues to what was happening. Suddenly, Jungkook stood up from his chair. "As all of you know, Lady Jeon is no longer with us," everyone looked down. "I will be in charge from now on and I'm expecting everyone to hold up to the standards of Jeon Manner. I will not have anyone mess up and put the Jeon name to shame. With that, let me set some ground rules, especially for those who may be new..."
Everyone looked at me.
"One, all Jeon servants are expected to serve me with no questions asked. Two, no one is allowed to touch me and must stay at least three steps away from me. Next, when at work everyone is expected to wear clothing carefully selected and provided by me, that means after this, I'll have you go upstairs to change," he looked at me.
I checked all the other servants and they were all dressed in dark articles of clothing from top to bottom, including Jungkook who was wearing a navy blue dress shirt with a black coat over. I looked down at what I was wearing: a pink fuzzy sweater with my usual ankle length skirt; I was suddenly very aware of how embarrassed I was.
"Lastly," he looked away from me and continued. "All of you will have three strikes. After the third one, I will have to ask you to leave and never return. Now, if everything is clear, you are all dismissed."
The sound of chairs being dragged across wood as everyone got up cleared the awkward tension in the room and I finally felt like I could breathe. I pushed in my chair and started everyone else to the door.
"Not you. Have you forgotten already? You're to accompany me at all times." I wanted to slap the grin off his pretty little face.
Who does he think he is? He's only twenty-two, but he acts like he's a wise old man. Ah Li-Nah, what have you gotten yourself into?
"Follow me."
I followed him upstairs, making sure I didn't get too close, into one of the many spare rooms. Inside there was a nicely made bed covered in white silk bedsheets, a large wardrobe with an attached body length mirror and a great window that I could see the beautiful sunset from. Laid out on the bed was a dress and some knee high socks.
"This will be your room from now on. Don't get used to it; if you misbehave, I might have you moved to the basement."
He can't be serious.
"Now," he clapped his hands, "go get changed."
I stood there expecting him to leave the room.
"What's wrong?" He raised an eyebrow towards me.
"Umm... are you going to leave?" I asked defensively.
"Uhh, of course. I guess you're right," he scratched the back of his neck and chuckled, letting a small piece of his cold exterior go. "Don't take long, I'll wait outside." He closed the door behind him as he left.
"What a perv," I whispered under my breath. I never would've imagined Dr Jeon's son to be like this. To be fair, I don't even know what I was expecting, she rarely ever spoke about him. My only knowledge on him are his medical records. Who would've thought he would have such a stone cold exterior, and it didn't help that he happened to be somewhat handsome.
I stripped off my clothes and put on the dress and socks. I walked over to the mirror to see myself. I now matched everybody else in Jeon Manner. Everything I wore was black except for my glasses and beaten up shoes.
I felt the material of the dress, it was silk and the socks felt like they were made out of fine wool. Just what I expected. Cotton, a very common material used in clothing, was one of the many unique allergies Jungkook had that Dr Jeon worked hard to find a cure for. Sadly, she never got to find one. The dress itself was very chic and elegant, but a little too revealing for me. I preferred my warm modest clothing. Oh, well. I guess I'll just have to get used to this.
I pulled up my socks and headed towards the door. When I opened the door, Jungkook was leaned against the wall, across from me, with his hands in his pockets. He looked up when he noticed me step out.
"Not bad. How does the dress fit?" He asked.
"It fits fine," I replied. I saw him look down at my feet. I felt embarrassed that he was staring at my old dusty shoes and tried to hide them behind each other, but failed. He looked away and started walking down the hallway towards the only room with an open door. Remembering what he said, I followed him.
I entered the room after him and recognized it to be the same room that we talked in last evening. On either sides of me the walls were covered in shelves upon shelves of books and paperwork; the farthest wall from me was a home to a marvelous window that showed the bright sky line of Seoul, which I bet looked stunning when illuminated at night. I was awaken from my trance when a stack of papers were suddenly slammed onto the desk.
"These papers aren't going to file themselves," Jungkook smirked.~•~•~•~•~•~
