The house was pact as more and more guests arrived. As the new president of Jeon Inc. Jungkook was told by his advisers that he should throw a house party to meet important people in the business and me as the Lady of the house had been given the important task of planning the event. Everything to organizing the guest books and dishes to the seating arrangements, which was probably the most difficult part out of all of this. Too many of these rich CEOs had bad blood with each other and I spent sleepless nights reading up on all their background history in order to make sure the party went as smoothly as possible. All of this was new to me and a huge change from my days sitting all day in the lab. But the weeks of planning and  the countless threats from Jungkook to do my best was all worth the struggle. Everything was going as planned.
I greeted each guest as they entered and watched as the dinner hall that we cleared to used as a ballroom filled up. I'd never seen this many well dressed people before in my life; the women all wore elaborately adorned dresses with their hair and makeup elegantly done. They were all very poised while the men wore their best suits and dress shoes.
"Miss Ah, sorry to disturb you, but Master wants to see you in his study," Soojin informed me.
"Oh, alright. Would you take my place, please?"
Why was he still upstairs? He should be downstairs with the rest of the guests. I rushed up to his study and knocked his door.
"Come in," I heard him call out from inside.
I entered. The room was dimly lit, but I could make out his features in the dark. As pure usual he was wearing all black, but tonight he had his hair slicked back, revealing more of his face.
"You're wearing the dress I placed in your room, good."
"Sir, the guests have began arriving."
"I see, um... how do I look?" He stood up straight.
I noticed he was playing with his tie.
"Would you like me to put your tie on for you?" I asked.
"Sure." He handed me his tie and put it on for him. Something told me that he was nervous about this.
     "Are you nervous, sir?"
"No," he quickly defended. "Why, does it look like I am?"
     I laughed.
     "Why are you laughing?"
"Are people not allowed to laugh?"
     "They are, you just aren't."
     "That's no fair, why?"
"Because it sounds too cute when you do, how are people supposed to take me seriously, with you around?"
"Well, I'll keep that in mind the next time I laugh near you. Let's go, Master." I turned from him and opened the door to exit, but before I could leave, Jungkook grabbed my wrist and pulled my closer to him.
"Promise me you wont leave my side tonight," he whispered in my ear. "That's an order."
Shivers went up and down my spine as his breath brushed against my cheek and I didn't dare move, in case my legs no longer worked like they were supposed to. After a few seconds, my senses came back to me.
"I promise." He let go of me and exited the room, leaving me in the dark.

_______

I did as I was told and followed Jungkook all night as he went around the party introducing himself to important executives. It was truly an odd sight to see, he was discussing business matters and shaking hands with people at least twice his age and I couldn't believe that this was the same man who seemed so nervous upstairs just a few hours ago. He had nothing to worry about, he was a natural. I was also surprised with how well he seemed to be doing in such a crowded space, though there were a few instances where we had to step into one of the side rooms and he'd ask me for some sanitizer. As the evening neared to an end, everyone waited for Jungkook to give his speech as host.
"Now, if everyone could quiet down and let our lovely host come to the front for his speech," Mr. Lee announced.
Jungkook looked at me before hesitantly making his way towards the front. Was he nervous again? He had nothing to be nervous about, I was with him all night and throughout the whole evening he seemed so calm and professional. He got this.
I followed him through the crowd of people and when we reached the front I stepped to the side and found an empty seat to sit at. Hopefully the people sitting at this table wouldn't mind me joining them.
"Everyone, Mr. Jeon Jungkook!" Mr. Lee introduced.
"Thank you Mr. Lee," Jungkook spoke. He cleared his throat, "First off, I'd like to thank everyone for giving up some of your time to come here tonight."
Though his steady voice would've had anyone fooled, I could tell he was nervous by the way he was playing with the end of his tie. It was like watching him in front of the American delegates again; I had to fight everything in me not to go up there and be by his side.
"Many of you may of heard about my mother. Good family friends of our's may know this, but my mother always had a knack for throwing these kinds of things and I think we can all agree that her spirit as hostess, that seemed to be able to lift an entire room up, is greatly missed right now." I watched him as he spoke and admired how his voice could be heard throughout the large room without needing a mic.
He took a pause and looked around the room, he seemed to be looking for something. I lifted my head up a bit to get a better view and his eyes landed on me, "And with her leaving," he continued, "she not only left her family and friends, but her life's work. She spent many years building this company with my father and when he passed she invested her heart and soul into this company even more to get it to the place it is at now. Some may even say she put her work before family."
As he spoke his gaze on me never broke. "I invited you all here today to let you know that her passing shall not be in vain. I'll be taking my mother's work and continuing it and after I've successfully done that I will proceed with my own image that I have for the future of Jeon Inc. I look forward to working with you all, hopefully in the near future," he gave everyone a dashing smile. "Lastly, I'd like to acknowledge someone very special in this room because without her this party would not have been possible. Everyone, please give a hand to my amazing assistant, Ah Lina."
Everyone started applauding and I felt as red as a cherry tomato. How could he do this to me? I awkwardly bowed my head and waited for the clapping to end. I looked up and noticed Mr. Lee was back at the front with a mic in hand.
"That concludes this evening. I heard it's supposed to rain tonight, so everyone, drive home safely," Mr. Lee wrapped things up and with that people started getting up to leave.
I couldn't find Jungkook through the giant masses of people standing up and making there way out. I felt someone tap my shoulder, but instead of it being Jungkook, like I had expected it to be, it was another young man dressed in a fine suit.
"Hi, Miss. It's nice to meet you, I'm Kim Taehyung," he took my hand and kissed it, which surprised me. Just like Jungkook he was handsome, but he had this great aura around him that was contagious.
     "Hello, I'm Ah Lina."
"I know who you are!" He laughed. "Just wanted to come over and let you know that you did a great job on this party."
     "Thank you, sir."
"Tae, the cars waiting out front for us!" Someone called out from behind me. I turned around and came face to face to yet another young man. I recognized him as one of the men who was sitting at the table I was at.
"Yoongi, come over here for a sec. Let me introduce you guys. Ah Lina, Min Yoongi. Min Yoongi, Ah Lina. He's the one that created the popular cosmetic filter app that all you girls seem to be crazy into these days," Taehyung introduces me to his friend with a great big smile.
"A cosmetic filter app?" I asked, a little confused.
"What, you've never heard of the app, Dope?" Yoongi asked with a shocked expression on his face.
     "No, sorry."
"You must be living under a rock. It's one of the most popular apps out there."
"Well it must not be that popular," a familiar voice said next to me; I looked up to see Jungkook. Some part of me was relieved to see him. "If you guys like talking to her so much, why don't you both go get yourselves' your own assistants?"
"You shouldn't talk to your elders like that," Yoongi scolded.
"How are you, my friend, it's been a long time," Taehyung was talking to Jungkook.
"Friend? I don't remember you two ever being my friends, especially you. In fact, I'm not even sure why you two showed up today, I specifically had your names taken off the guest book."
"Word that there's a party at Jeon Manner spreads like wild fire, my friend. I just wanted to see how my little Jungkookie was doing," he teased.
This Taehyung was a completely different from the one I had just been introduced to. I didn't think it could be true, but I guess pretty faces could lie too. Jungkook curled his hands into fists and looked like he could kill.
Taehyung only smirked, "Being in the military didn't do anything to fix your attitude, I see. You know what they say, can't teach an old dog new tricks."
Jungkook stepped forward; I had to stop this before it could escalate further. "Master," I warned.
     "Move," he quietly demanded.
"You should do as she says. You don't want to cause a scandal now, especially not with your number one competitor," Taehyung kept a straight face. I'll give him credit for being able to keep his cool.
"Just get out of my house," Jungkook growled.
Out of the three, Yoongi seemed to be the only one with his senses, "Come on, Tae. It's getting late," he grabbed Taehyung by his shoulder and escorted him out.
"Aish!" Jungkook swung his arm, barely missing me, and stormed upstairs.
I chased after him. "Master!" I crept into his study and heard a large thud as his fists came down against a hard surface. "Master, are you okay?" He was breathing heavily now.
It surprised me when he suddenly turned around. "Are you okay, did they touch you?" I wasn't used him being this concerned.
     "I-I'm fine."
His breathing was still labored, but it seemed to be calming. "Good. Um, you worked hard today, you can go to bed now."
I bowed and dismissed myself from his study.
"Wait," he stopped me. "I don't want you talking to them again."
What was going on with him. Who were these two men and why did it seem like there was something unspoken going on between Kim Taehyung and Jungkook ?
When I reached my room I decided to look up Kim Taehyung and his friend, Min Yoongi. Like Taehyung stated, Yoongi was in fact the brilliant  mind behind the app Dope that seemed to be blowing up everywhere. As a son of poor family he moved out when he was young and some how successfully started his own tech business, creating a name for himself. Taehyung on the underhand was the main candidate to inherit his father's bio-engineering company, Kim Innovated. How I see it they were never Jeon Inc.'s competition until recently, when they came out with a solution for providing clean filtered water for thousands of people down in Africa. Taehyung was also recently all over the media for being involved in a relationship scandal, being seen with a mysterious woman after his confirmed engagement to the daughter of a president of another big company.
None of this explained why Jungkook seemed to resent them so much. After an hour of scrolling through the web, I came across something that caught my eye. I clicked on a link and it showed me an old picture of what looked like all three of them and another person I didn't know from when they were teens, sitting in front of a pool. I recognized the pool, it was the same one as the one here at Jeon Manner. I took another look. In the photo they were all smiling and seemed really close with each other. So, they were all friends at one point, interesting.
