Your P.O.V:
"Hey, Leo!" You call, running up to your child-of-Hephaestus friend. "You got a minute?"
Turning his head, he smiles. "Sure. What do you need?"
You move him to your Apollo cabin and ask, "You know I don't have a weapon . . . right?"
He nods. "Yeah."
"So I was wondering . . . if it isn't too much trouble . . . if you could make me one?" Hastily, you add, "You know, you being a Latino Santa's elf."
Blinking, a grin spreads on his face. "I'd love to! I was thinking you'd never ask. I've been working on your own bow for a while now, since I'm agonizing over the type of wood. But I think it's going fine."
You pounce, glomping him. "Thank you so much! I knew I could ask you."
You're in a bit of a pervy position; Leo lying down, with you right on top of him, your (h/l), (h/c) hair tickling his face. But you never cared about what other people thought of you, so you just stay there, smiling at Leo warmly. His cheeks dusted with a slight crimson, he replies, "No worries. It's what friends do, right?"
"Mhm. And I'm lucky to have you as a best friend!" You say, wrapping your arms round his neck and resting your head on his chest.
"Uh . . ." You and Leo were receiving skeptical glances, so he gently eases you off him. You don't mind though.
"And, by the way, Leo, could you make it (a/w) wood, please? Thanks!" You say and then skip off inside your cabin.
Olivia, the counselor of the Apollo cabin, is the only one inside and grins warmly at you. "Hi, (Name). How you doing?"
"Good, good. You?" You respond, jumping onto your bed.
"I'm fine." Then, with a teasing tone, she says, "So . . . you any closer with Leo Valdez?"
You whip your head round. "What are you implying? I'm not going to confess. What if he likes me back? What if the relationship fails? How awkward would it be to have your ex-boyfriend as your best friend? I'll be destroying our friendship."
Throwing her hands up in protest, Olivia reasons, "Calm your cookies, (Name)! I'm not implying anything. Heck, I didn't even know you were that flustered. But if you really aren't going to discuss this with Leo, you'll be an emotional volcano, eventually exploding and spouting with lava."
"You and your confusing metaphors . . ." You grunt. Albeit your father is the God of Prophecy and poetry, you hate the perplexing similes and metaphors your cabin mates use on a day-to-day basis.
"Well . . . I'll be off. Good luck trying to say stuff to Leo." Olivia finally says, then walks out the cabin door.
You sigh. What's next on your time table? Sword fighting with Percy Jackson. He's a close friend, but you two don't often talk. You stroll out the door, grab a sword that feels OK in your hand on the way and hurry to the arena. Once you've pushed past the crowd, you see Percy countering the attacks of some Ares kid.
"It's" - clang - "important" - slash - "to predict" - hack - "your enemy's" - stab - "next" - lunge - "move." Percy explains while trying to fend off his enemy. "Thank you for the example, Jake."
Jake dips his head and stomps off.
"OK! Now, get into pairs -"
He's interrupted by the immediate shuffle.
"Wait! They're already chosen."
There's a collective groan.
"So . . . Sierra with Lauren. Danielle with (Name) . . ." Percy trails off.
