Christmas Lights

You were helping set up the camp for Christmas. You were an Apollo kid, and you were helping by making the plain white lights different colors by just touching them. You were working on a particular strand, making the whites shine purple, blue, pink and all other colors with a smile. Tyson had come to spend the holiday with his brother, Percy, and he was helping by stringing up the lights at the top of the tree were the demigods couldn't really reach, so you two were kind of working together.

"the tree looks great" a familiar voice said. You turned your head to see the short, scrawny latino, Leo Valdez. You and him had been sort of friends for a while. You talked a lot while he was making ship. The ship was still being made, and you liked that Leo was still around for the holidays. You had slowly fallen in love with him, and you really didn't want the ship to be finished because who knew when you would see him next after that? But you were demigods, you were made to save the world.

"thanks Leo" you say. He smiled a bit at you

"your welcome, but its missing something" he said. You frowned at that and looked at the tree

"well all the lights aren't on, and then wel put on the ornaments and then the garland..." you say. He shrugged a bit

"well I guess il come back then, when its all done" he said. You nodded and he walked off, headed the forge to probably work on his ship more. You sighed a bit and started to really work on the tree, making sure the lights were beautiful.

After a few hours, the sun was starting to set, and the tree was almost all ready. It just needed the angel on top. Tyson did that, and the tree was complete. You smiled and stepped back a bit. Slowly, other kids came around and started to look.

"wow, it looks really nice [y/n]" said your cabin mate, Will Solace. You smiled at your brother, half brother but you considered all Apollo kids your brothers and sisters.

"thanks Will" you said and hugged him. He hugged you back a bit and you say Leo walk up. You let him go and walked over to Leo. "So, what do you think now?" you ask.

He looked the tree over and nodded a bit.

"Its good, but still... missing something" he says. You frown at that and looked down at the ground and kicked a stone with your foot.

"oh. " you say, kind of embarrassed and disappointed. He nodded a bit and walked away. You frowned and watched him walk away with a sigh.

Eventually, everyone dispersed. It wasn't dark yet, so you didn't put on the lights yet. You walked off to go train or eat or something, you just wanted to get away from that dumb tree.

A few hours later, you decided you should put the lights on for the night. So you walked to the tree. But it looked like the lights were on... but they looked funny. You walked closer and gasped.

The lights you had put up were on, but along with them, on the branches were actual candles all lit. they were big enough to make a nice flame, but not overly so that the tree was at risk for burning. They all flickered and made a beautiful glow on the tree and made the lights you had put on pop. It looked gorgeous.

"do you like it?" a small, nervous voice said. You turned to see a very nervous looking Leo. You smile at him and nodded.

"oh Leo its beautiful!" you say. He smiled a bit nervously and walked a bit closer.

"Leo are you ok?" you asked softly. He nodded a bit and walked even closer.

"I wanted your tree to be perfect, [y/n]" he mumbled. You smiled a bit at that and looked at the tree

"I think it is" you say softly. He smiled a bit and was really close now. He smiled nervously at you.

"I wanted it to be perfect because I wanted to tell you something..." he mumbled clearly nervous. You looked at him curiously and waited for him to continue. "I wanted to tell you that..." he gulped a bit. "I love you" he said quickly.

You were shocked at that and didn't say anything.

He blushed and looked down and turned and started to walk away. You gasped

"Leo wait!" you say. He turned and you ran forward and hugged him tightly. He cried out a bit and you let him go a bit so you weren't crushing him.

"I love you too, Leo" you say. He smiled at that and looked up at you.

"really?" he asked. You nodded and slowly leaned down and gently touched your lips to his. He didn't respond at first but soon you were kissing.

You pulled away for air "we should go before the harpies come out" you say. He laughed a bit

"Yeah I wouldn't want the woman I love to be taken by them" he said and he walked you to your cabin before heading to his own.
