"Mum!" I screamed, crawling out of a box. There was fire everywhere. I was surrounded with no escape. I felt small and hopeless, I could see a figure beyond the fire, it looked as if it was trying to say something. I focused my hearing on where the figure stood, yet I still couldn't make out what they were saying. Every time the figure stepped into the light of the fire it would change shape. First, my mother then my father then Timothy and now as it neared the flame all I could see was a large black beast, with its fangs beared and saliva dripping over its opened gums. It moved like tar and wax. It's claw covered paws melted as it stepped through the fire, inching slowly towards me. I panicked, I shifted around in the wooden box, it was completely empty save for myself. The beast kept getting closer, the fire still slowly melting down its limbs, its shiny white bones were now visible beneath its coat. It was a few steps away from my face when I felt a burning at my waist, I whipped my head towards it thinking the fire had made its way into the box, into me. All I found was the key from earlier, safely secured in my waistband. It was burning my skin and searing my clothes. I grabbed it out just as the beast made a final leap towards the box, then suddenly everything disappeared.

I sat up at light speed, finding my self covered in tar and gripping the silver key in my hand. I shot my head around to the others, the wax covered beasts stood over each of their moving bodies. I froze. I wanted to help, but could I? Was it even possible? I don't even know how I did it. The beast that hovered over Sophronia's squirming form lunged for her, I reacted. As it opened its mouth and bent towards her I bolted up, slamming into its side and knocking it off of Sophronia. She jumped up, breathing heavy,

"What the hell was that!?" She was screaming and shaking. I looked towards the others, they each had a beast slowly crawling over them about to feast on their flesh.

"No time! Help me, we need to knock them off!" I yelled, running towards Will. I rammed into the beasts side, it fell back into the woods as Will jolted from his sleep.

"Get rid of them!" I screamed as I ran towards Charles. I pushed it off onto the grass, gripped his arm and pulled him up. I looked around, Sophronia had gotten Timothy and Will had saved William,

"What the hell is going on?!" Charles screamed.

"I don't know, but those things got into my head. It tried to eat me!" I yelled. I looked into the woods, the wax beasts were crawling through the trees, I could see the shine of their white saliva covered fangs and the glow of their yellow eyes.

"Let's get out of here!" Will had grabbed his brother, and were starting to move toward the tower in the distance.

"Get to the tower!" William screamed back as he followed his brother. Sophronia scrambled after them, pulling Timothy with her. Charles followed close behind. I took one last glance into the woods, and after seeing their squirming forms my feet sprang off the ground. I was running as fast as I could, the wind was whipping my hair into my eyes. I could hear the low growls of wax beasts behind me, I felt the nerves creep up on me as I sensed them running, slowly gaining on me. My muscles started to ache from the strain, they were burning as I slammed one foot in front of the other. I had caught up to the back of the group, all of them running at full force. The tower was creeping closer and closer, the track turned past a patch of trees and for the first time, the entry way of the tower came into view. I pushed my legs faster, tried to propel my self forward. I was only a few meters from the tower gates when the twins slammed into the door. Sophronia and Timothy made it next, then Charles. I slammed into the door after him, we all began pushing against the door. It wouldn't budge. I kept slamming my body against the hard steel, pain spread through my side. Sophronia and Charles turned around staring at the oncoming beasts,

"There's no point! The door is locked, this is the death we've been sent to!" Charles shouted, bracing himself against the stone columns surrounding the door. I slammed into the door again, both Timothy and the twins stopped, turning to face the beasts alongside Sophronia and Charles.

"Give up, this is the end! It's locked!" William shouted back at me. I slammed into the door one last time. I glanced back at the others, they were all shaking in the night. My hands began to tremble at my sides, I frantically searched the expanse of the door. Then it clicked in my mind. The door was locked, but I had a key.

"Wait! I think I have something!" I shouted back at them. I fumbled for the key at my waistband, once I felt the cold metal in my hand I began to search.

"Find a keyhole! Now!" I screamed. The twins turned back towards me, they're eyes scanned me, then locked on to the key in my shaking hand. Their eyes widened as they spun on their heels, then they began searching for a keyhole.

"If you have an idea, hurry the hell up kid!" Charles shouted back at me. I only became more frantic, quickly searching as much as I could, then,

"Here!" William screamed, grabbing my arm and pulling me towards him. He pointed straight at the black hole hidden between the designs on the tower wall. I shoved the key in, shifting and moving it around until, click. It opened.

"It's open! Let's go!" I shouted, pulling the key out and racing into the doors, followed by Charles, Sophronia, the twins then Timothy. We all turned round as soon as we entered, pushing against the doors that were wide open. We pushed and shoved against the stone doors, they were unrelenting and stable but we had managed to move it enough that when we felt the slam on the other side, there was no room for the beasts to get through.
