I fell back against the steel door, cold sinking into my back. My breathing was rapid and my heart wouldn't slow down. Everyone else seemed to feel the same, the twins were sprawled on the floor, along with Timothy. Sophronia stood leaning against the wall and Charles was bent over in the centre of the room. I tried to slow my breathing, I took a few deep breaths in and out, slowing my heart rate. I took the chance to look around the room. I glanced up from my spot on the floor. My mouth gasped open at the sight. There was a grand stair case in the centre made of marble and decorated with metal swirling railings, at the top of the stairs was halls of doors all much to big for a human. Thousands of staircases branches out, each intricately designed and unique, thousands and thousands of doors. It looked like a maze, a real maze. I pushed myself up from my spot on the door once the shaking had stopped. I walked forward into the expanse of the room, then just for a second, I questioned. If the doors are so big, why are the stairs human sized?

"How the hell did you know what to do?" Charles screamed at me.

"What are you doing?" It was Sophronia screaming now, towards Charles.

"This poor girl has been through just as much as we have, and you think you have the right to question her so abrasively? I will not allow it!" She pointed a finger at Charles and I. He scowled in retort. I could see the curses on his lips, about to be spewed out into the echoing room. But before he could speak another word, a large sound echoed down one of the halls. We all turned to face it. I could not deal with anymore monsters tonight, I didn't have the heart to face anymore. I slowly backed away, one step after the other until I was pressed against the wall once again. This time Sophronia stepped in front of both myself and Timothy while the twins only rose slightly from their spot on the ground. Before I could even think a horse pulled carriage came barreling down the main staircase.

"Come on! The little beasts can't reach us here!" A man shouted. I stared in silence as the man pulled the horses to a stop on the ground floor. He stood up from his seat at the reigns and turned back the direction he'd came. I squinted my eyes down the hall. Dust had flared everywhere, seemingly from an explosion of some sort. I could make out a slight shadow emerging from the dust storm, it was another man. He was being followed by a swarm of...of...what the hell were they? They were crawling along the ground at a fast pace, chasing the man who was running towards us. He reached the staircase, stopped for a second, then launched himself down the stairs. He flew through the air for a few seconds, then he landed perfectly on the ground. When I turned to look back at the creatures, they had all stopped dead in their tracks, right at the top of the stair case. Then for a moment one tried to walk down a step, it hissed and cried clutching its rat like appendage to its chest. Then within a second they had all disappeared down the way they'd came. The man who had ran was wearing a metal suit of armour, his black hair hung around his face, reaching his shoulders at least. He was bent over his knees panting while the man in the carriage began to laugh. He had blonde hair, roughly pulled back and dimples on his cheeks. He wore a fine suit jacket of navy blue over thin white shirt, along with black pants tucked into brown boots. He jumped off the carriage, still laughing at his friend. I stepped away from the wall slightly so that I wasn't pressed against it and to get a better look at the interaction.

"What the hell Cass!?" The black haired man yelled at his friend.

"Oh, come on Everet" the blonde man said between laughs. None of us had moved.

"It wasn't that bad" the blonde man continued. The carriage was parked so that the black haired man, whom I know recognised as Everet, couldn't see us. Though should the blonde man turn around, he would have a clear view.

"Wasn't that bad?!" Everet screamed at the blonde man.

"You ran off to find something we could ride in, left me with those things to fight against, came back but did not wait for me to get on, then ride off without me, leaving me to try and out run those things!" Everet shouted. The blonde man burst into giggles once again.

"Yeah, but it was awesome, wasn't it? And that jump was fantastic by the way!" The blonde man said, trying not to fall into a fit of laughter once again.

"Ahem" Charles broke our silence. Both men spun towards us, eyes wide in shock. I clamped my hands together to stop the shaking. What if these men wanted to kill us? I mean the blonde man had just tried to sacrifice his friend. The two men looked towards each other, walking around the side of the carriage. They shot us all a confused look before the blonde man smiled, holding a hand out to Charles,

"The names Cassius, Cassius Black. Sorry about all this, we weren't expecting any new people till next week. Although I'm surprised all six of you made it" Charles reached out and shook his hand. Then Sophronia stepped closer to them,

"What do you mean, weren't expecting us?" She asked, seemingly politer than she had ever sounded.

"Right, well we probably just got our calculations off" Cassius replied, scratching the back of his neck. I took a few steps forward, moving past Sophronia to stand next too Charles.

"That's not what she meant, we are trying to ask how you knew we were coming, along with, who are you? Where are we? Why aren't we dead? Are you going to kill us? And why are you surprised all six of us made it? Also, considering your so surprised, were you the ones who sent those...those things, after us!?" I ended up screaming at them. Both Charles and the two men flinched at my voice,

"Wow, I can tell why you were sent here" Cassius spoke in my direction.

"What?" I felt my heart beat rise. I was getting angry. Women weren't supposed to talk back to men, never. I always had, I had never been afraid to speak back to the men at the orphanage. If I had an opinion or question I always expressed it, no matter what. I had been locked in the cellar countless times for it, but I had never stopped. Everet sighed, stepping forward.

"Look, we can't talk here. We need to move or the monsters will surround the lobby. Let's get them to the greenhouse, Cassius" he spoke calmly to his friend. Cassius nodded,

"Follow us, this place is crazy and you'll die if you get lost" he turned and took a few steps towards the staircase, before spinning on his heel and facing me.

"Also for your information Miss..." he questioned

"Kaya" I answered, glaring in his direction,he continued

"Well, Miss Kaya, I can answer all of your, various questions, once I make sure that I'm not going to die, okay?" He spun back around, walking along side Everet. He was followed by the twins, along with Charles, Sophronia and Timothy.

"Fine" I mumbled, walking to catch up with them. My hands rattled at my sides, I was scared, terrified even. I hated being scared, I hated not being able to do anything. I had learnt to act tough and unemotional, so that the older kids at the orphanage wouldn't see me cry. But whenever I got a moment alone I would break down in a flow of never ending tears.

For now, I would be brave.
