Hello guys!. Now don't be mad at me I had a lot of shit going on in school and just life in general so bare with me babes. I can't promise to update more but I can make an effort to it. Ok? Ok. So last time on this mini short story, you just met Pocahan, son of the chief of his village. Beforehand he was angry because his father decided to marry him off without his consent. He didn't want to marry for an alliance and strong offspring. He honestly wanted to marry out of love. So in response to the news he fled his village and ran into the woods and that is where he met you. By the time that you left to go home, he forgot about his engagement and was only focused on your beauty. So now you are all caught up and ready for the next part. Let's a go!
After that whole fiasco, you went home on time like you were supposed to. Your brother looked relieved that you were able to find your way back to the camp. You greeted him, gave him a hug goodnight and went to bed. You kept thinking of that young man that was so nice to you. You actually slept properly for the first time since the trip. You then decided to sneak trips every day. It started off as a trip once a month but it turned to frequent trips after the first week. You just had a good connection with him and didn't want to let that go. You then woke up the next morning happy. You decided to visit the waterfall again where you met.
You got dressed that morning and then snuck off to go the waterfall. You looked around to see if anyone was there to see you and when the coast was clear you made a run for it. You ran so fast that the hounds that were at the town wouldn't keep up. You just kept running. You then ended up at the waterfall and waited a little bit. You sat on a rock and just looked at the nature that was before you. You breathed steadily as you silently prayed for your new friend to arrive. Meanwhile, Pocahan was in his village working in the cornfields. Ever since he met you it was his mission to avoid his "bride" in any way possible. He and Nokoma were talking and she was just listening to him rant while he picked the corn that was ready for harvesting.
"Okay so let me get this straight. Your father would rather let you be off with the most boring person in the whole village then let you choose? When tradition and his promise says otherwise?" Nokoma asks. He nodded and continued to take the corn and put them in a woven basket.
"But yet my father married my mother out of tradition and his father did the same thing for him. It worked out for him so why can't I?" he yelled. He was so mad at his father that whenever his father wanted to talk to his son, Pocahan would leave and work if it meant that he was avoiding him. There was also you but that wouldn't last because his father would send a search party if he ever disappeared. The more that he thought about it, the more fed up he became. He then dropped the last piece of corn that he held.
"I'm gonna go take a walk" he muttered and Nokoma watched him walk away. He looked at the sky and wondered if you were there. He ran through the forest and surprisingly made it to the waterfall. He looked to see you on a rock. Your eyes were closed and you looked peaceful. He then stepped on a branch. He immediately regretted that as you opened your eyes and pulled out your knife, only to see his fearful face. You sighed in relief and put your knife away.
"I thought you weren't coming" you joked and he smiled. You then got up and dusted off your skirt. Jumping from rock to rock you eventually were in front of him.
"Well, I decided to come visit you. I've been avoiding my father as of late" he joked back. You turned your head and looked at him confused.
"What do you mean?" you asked. He shook his head and grabbed your hand. Then he proceeded to drag you through the forest, not that you minded.
"Where are we going Pocahan?" you asked. He laughed.
"We are going to see my grandmother!" he yelled and your eyes bulged out of your head. You tried to pull away but he continued to pull you through the forest. He eventually stopped. He looked at you huffing and puffing from all of the running.
"Do you know how to climb [Name]?" he asked. Breathlessly you nodded. Still confused you started to climb and he fell behind. As you reached the top you sat there and he sat near the tree.
"So where is she Pocahan?" you asked. And at that moment, a bump in the tree morphed into a face. You almost screamed but managed to keep your cool. The tree then smiled at you.
"[Name] meet Grandmother Willow, Grandmother this is my friend [Name]. She is not from here" he introduced you and you waved shyly at her. She smiled at you and shook your hand with one of her branches.
"It is a pleasure to meet you [Name]. Pocahan has told me about you" she chirped. You blushed and looked down. All three of you talked until sunset. Pocahan had to leave first, but he hugged you and said his goodbyes before he left. As you were going to climb down, Grandmother Willow stopped you.
"I wish you luck on the path that you take [Name]. You shall need it in the times that approach you" she smiled and then morphed into a tree again. You climbed down and then walked home with her words repeating in your head. What did she mean? Why? When?
But don't worry, you will find out
