Flying. It had become a part of her life now. City to city, projects to projects, concerts to concerts.

Amber took her luggage that had become simpler with time as she figured she did not need that much to survive in an alien environment. Is traveling not moving from one place you are bored of living in to a place someone else is bored of living in?

She still remembered her fifteen-year-old self, arriving at this very same airport, trying to contain the excitement she had in store of her future. After more than twenty hours of flight, she was finally at the city of her dreams, Seoul.

She was longing for the life of a trainee. She had to do well. She had to sing.

In the end she did make it, but as a rapper. On occasions she would be given a few lines to sing. And she cherished them each time. It did not seem that long ago when she flew on her first business trip. She was dancing with her bandmates in the plane, proud of what they had achieved. She did not know there were much much more flights in the years to come.

"Amber!" her manager called. He was already in the driver's seat, waiting for her.

She small-jogged to the van, "Sorry oppa, I'm a bit tired."

"Rest well these few days, because then you'll have schedule again."

Amber yawned.

They arrived at her house. Her manager did not leave before playing with Jackjack for half an hour.

Out of boredom, she played with her phone. Then realised she did not turn off flight mode.

5 missed video calls from Galaxy Fan

"So you think-"

Incoming video call from Galaxy Fan

Her phone buzzed impatiently. She answered it while slouching on her bed.

Kris' face appeared on the screen. He was in a car, wearing a blue jacket.

"Hey babe," he smiled

"Hey babe," he smiled.

"Hey babe," Amber mimicked sarcastically, her face scrunged. "Took you long enough."

He just grinned.

"Going to work?" she asked.

Kris showed her a thick script.

"This is the script for a supporting character?" she was shocked.

"You think it's easy being an actor?" he snorted.

"Shoot, I might have to reconsider that acting job my manager told me."

"What?!" Kris shouted. "You finally agreed to act?"

"I didn't want to, but then the director said it has to be me, he even went the extent to meet me and tell me about this tomboy character..."

"Do it, Amber!"

Amber gave him the half-eyelid stare every mother has, "After what you just said?"

"No, no! It's gonna be okay, it's gonna be okay, it's real fun, I promise!" Kris had a sorry look on his face.

"Okay puppy face, I'll think about it. Meanwhile you get some rest before you pass out on set."

"Wait wait wait, why does it sound like you're about to end the call!" Kris yelled; the screen was shaking so badly his face became a mess.

"I am," she smiled at him.

Kris looked at her and gave a little sigh. And smiled. Amber thought her heart dropped a little.

"I love you," he said.

Amber's heart skipped a beat. Her throat felt dry. Usually she was quick to tell people they loved them. But this was the first time she heard Kris say it. After so many years saying it to him when he listened to her talk after training, brought her drinks during breaks on stage and gave her little prep talks back stage.

This love was different. She felt her conservative Chinese blood rushing through the veins in her face. Three simple words, yet she could not say it back.

She tried to calm her breathing and grinned at him.

"See you later," she croaked and hung up first. She threw her phone on the bed and snuggled her face into her teddy bear Xiong Xiong and bread-shaped stuffed toy Mr Bread.

Wow. This was something.

Amber rolled on her bed with Xiong Xiong in one arm and Mr Bread in the other. Then she held Mr Bread up high. It was from Kris when they went to the mall together as trainees and he got it from a claw machine because she was staring at Mr Bread with hungry eyes, despite their lack of income.

"Hey, I'm lucky," he had said. "Two dollars for a toy and I got it my first try."

When Kris left without notice, she slept with Mr Bread tight in her embrace. It brought back good memories. Mr Bread from Mr Fan.

"I love you," his voice rang in her head. Oh, she felt dizzy. Lovey-dovey. Giggly-bitchy.

Jackjack trotted into the room and hopped onto the bed. She put Mr Bread aside and held Jackjack up high.

"Jackjack, I lurve you," she talked in a high pitched voice.

Jackjack just looked back at her big black eyes with his.

"Gosh, stop staring into my soul," she placed him back on the bed. "I'm not lying."

Jackjack placed his head on Mr Bread and lied with all fours in the air.

"You're a peculiar one, Jackjack. Who sleeps like you?"Amber poked his tummy then rolled over to pull out her notebook from her side desk. She started scribbling and humming.
My heart drops a little bit
when I see your smile
There's no doubt in my mind
that your mine
What you do to me
It all started with the three words, you gave me
