That Moment

"Rhett McLaughlin... trying to escape so soon?", the figure hissed at Rhett. Rhett quickly stopped punching the "L" into the door, and spun around. He was frozen in fear, not sure of how to reply. He could die if he said that he was, in fact, trying to escape. "N-no. I'm not. Punching the door just gives me something to-". "You sound hesitant. You can't fool me, you southern rat", Rhett was cut off by the Figure. Rhett grimaced. It just called me a southern rat, didn't it?

That comment had made Rhett red in the face. "You know what? I am trying to escape, and you're not gonna stop me. Link and I are going home, you wispy wimp.", Rhett said in a low tone. The figure growled, offended at what Rhett had just called it. "You are going to be stopped, McLaughlin. I have Link, and he's all I need. You'll never get out of this room, and even if you do, you'll never, ever see Link again", the figure said; a little too much enjoyment in its voice. "No, I'm pretty sure I'm getting out of this room, and I'm pretty sure that Link's comin' with me when I do escape", Rhett bounced back. "You'll die before you ever get out of this room. You won't live to see Link again", the figure threatened.

This was the moment where Rhett realized that there was a slim chance that he'd ever get out of this room without dying first... let alone getting to see Link again. This was the moment where he said a prayer to the Good Lord just in case he was laying on his death bed. This was the moment where he knew that the figure would probably be the last thing he saw before he died. This was the moment where he let everything go, and no worries crossed his mind, because he knew that he might not make it much longer to worry about anything. Even though he realized these things, a his lips curled into a big, determined smile. "Well, I guess I'll just have to die fighting you, then", Rhett shrugged.

"You don't want to fight me. You'll be gone within the first two minutes", the figure replied. "I may lose. But if I do, then I can lay to rest knowing that I have a wonderful family, a wonderful best friend, and a community of people all over the world that Link and I have helped significantly. If I lose, then I can die knowing the fact that I died fighting for everyone that I have helped, and everyone, including my family and Link, that has helped me", Rhett said with a curious but wonderful calmness in his voice. He knew that this could be it

"Fine. You'll regret this", the figure said back to him. "I don't think so. Let's dance, homeslice", Rhett firmly and playfully replied.

At first, the figure went easy on Rhett. Rhett would run towards it, and it would teleport to the opposite side of the room. Its plan was simple: it was trying to wear Rhett out, so it could take advantage of him. After about ten minutes of trying to catch the Figure, Rhett had grown exhausted. He couldn't show that to the figure, though. He would be toast. At last, he stood still, and looked the Figure straight in its dimly-lit eyes. "Give up yet? Ready to meet your fate?", the figure snickered. "No. Never.", Rhett furrowed his brow.

It has to have some sort of weakness. Doesn't everyone have something that rids them of strength somehow? Rhett thought. While he was thinking, the figure started taking slow, heavy steps toward him. What if I can't fight him physically... what if I can fight him mentally? As the Figure was walking his way, Rhett closed his eyes and took a long, deep breath. If this didn't work, then Rhett's life could be at stake.

What he was trying to do was send things from his mind to the figure's mind. He wanted to send the Figure images, words, or anything else that he could send it using only his mind.

Rhett kept his eyes closed. He could hear the Figure slowly progressing toward him, but he didn't care. He kept his cool. He thought of something that he could transfer from his mind to the figure's. Something that would hurt it.
