The tension between Ed and Lisa was quite evident, and so was the strain between Matt and Lisa. Something was definitely up and I had no idea. The tension was eating me alive and the eagerness was burning inside me.
"A.....I will just check on the water tap." I said. Neither Ed, nor Li acknowledged my stupid excuse. Matt however took the cue.
"Yeah, I guess the taps aren't working properly or the water wasn't cold." With that we rushed towards the water tank at the corner of canteen.
"Ok, so what is all this?" I asked waving my hand between Li and him
"It's complicated, however I can tell you my part."
"Yeah, Yeah. Go on and give me the whole detail. You guys were together?"
"We were, before you left. There was a fight between Li and my grandma and well I ..."
"You have a grandmother? I never knew." I asked him. Seriously I don't know much about him.
"Yes, she came back soon after you left the town. She was living in the Nicobar Island of India with some Adivasi family."
"What is Adivasi?" I asked him, searching my vocabulary for the term.
"These are people who live as outcast..."
"Never mind, we can study this term afterwards. Tell me what happened?" I shushed him with a flick of my wrist.
"Grandma and Li had a fight, and well I only have grandma as family because you know my parents are never home. So yeah we broke apart."
"OH, I am sorry. Li is understanding, what exactly happened between them?" I asked him.
"Nothing much, my grandmother sort of made a prophecy clamming the death of her parents and all. It was all a cumulative nonsense I believe but the old lady was quite fixed on her words and that angered Li. She asked me to leave grandma or I can leave her. Anyways it was all 3 years back." He sighed. Hurt was clear in his eyes. God his eyes were so beautiful. The shade of blue was breath-taking.
"I am sorry, I would like to meet your grandmother and discuss this whole Adivasi stuff with her." I said placing a hand on his shoulders. His eyes lit up. He's so easy to please.
"Really Em, you are amazing. Although I will warn you, old lady isn't nicest."
"No problem Matt, now what is between Li and my brother."
"You really want to know?" He asked me.
"Yes, why not?"
"Well it is not mine to tell. You can ask hi...."
"Shut up and tell me, what is happening between them?" I demanded
"Well, your brother may or may not have screwed Li." He sighed
"What, like seriously?" I asked my eyes bulging out.
"Yes, I don't know if it was a one night or a week or a month stand, but it was and no, I won't be speaking anymore on the topic. Period." He said with a finality. He knows how to dominate.
"OK, so will you tell me about your grandmother then?"
I seriously didn't want to go back to Ed and Li. Come-on he is my brother and if I am least interested in anything then it is his sex life. Matt started babbling about his grandmother and I looked at his face. The way his eyes shone every time he mentioned his grandmother, the way he laughed at his own jokes. Most captivating were his eyes, the pools of clear water adorned by slight freckle on both sides. He's beautiful in his own way. I was lost in his words when all of a sudden, I noticed a presence. The same black hoodie, beige pants, converse, only he was facing me this time. His face was hidden behind the hood, but his lip was visible. The moment my eyes reached him, he smirked. That smirk was familiar.
"Hey, you here. Earth to Emma" Matt said waving his palm in front of my face.
"Matt who is he?" I spun him around towards the mysterious guy.
"Who?"
"The one in hood tee." I said pointing towards him.
"I don't see any hoodie man." And he was correct, there was no-one with a hoodie tee. He vanished like he apparated into some other dimension. But that smile was so conversant, so close to my heart. I yearned to see him again. He was somewhere close, and he was so real. No, it wasn't any fragment of my imagination, or can he be? A mere imagination. My heart drowned at the thought.
"Bye, Matt." And with that I left him and strolled towards my next class.
Author's Note
Rubbish ending? Yes *sobbing*. Longer Chapter? Yes. Early Update? Definitely Yes. So time to celebrate. Seriously, I am not studying at all for my semester exams and the fact is freaking me out. The problem is, I am too engrossed in this story to study. Anyways, my babbling won't do any good. I should turn off the wattpad and study. Damn that's not possible. Maybe in some parallel universe I am a good and sincere student.
Question: if you could live anywhere, where could it be (any specific city or country)?
Mine: don't judge, Miami!!
