Bughead: The Diner

Chapter 12

The next day Betty decided to finally go back to school and after a very long goodbye of jughead trying to convince her to stay at home she left. The first part of the day went well, nobody said anything to her until the last period when she was summoned to the principals office. "Miss cooper, your mother is on the phone for you" Mr. Weatherbee told her and left her alone with the phone. "Mum?" She said. "Elizabeth you better come home after school" Alice demanded through the phone. "Never" Betty said and hung up. To Betty's relief the bell finally rang, signalling the end of the school day and she made her way to the diner.

"Hey guys" she said as she walked into the diner. "Hey Betts" "hiya" "hey babe" the boys greeted her. "How was school" fangs asked. After Betty filled them in about the phone call with her mother she got changed into her uniform and started to help Jug in the kitchen. "Gorgeous, are you sure you're okay?" He asked as she started washing the dishes. "I promise" she smiled and kissed his cheek. Half way through her shift betty was becoming tired and hungry, having skipped out on lunch that day. "You okay angel?" Sweetpea asked when he walked into the kitchen. "Yeah, I'm just losing energy" she laughed "I didn't have any lunch today". Sweetpea sighed but instead of pressing the topic he said "why don't you take your break and I'll bring you some food?" He said. "Okay" she smiled. As Betty was walking out of the kitchen, jughead was walking in. "Hey man! Can you go and take Betty's order" sweetpea asked him. "Sure, why is she hungry?" Jug asked curiously. "Yeah, she said she didn't have lunch so I said she can have her break" sweetpea said and jug nodded. "Hello there madam, may I take your order?" Jug teased and made Betty giggle. "Of course, I'll have a cheeseburger and vanilla milkshake please" she smiled and Jug sat down next to her. "Really?" He smiled, knowing she was still having troubles with eating. "Really" she giggled and he grinned before kissing her head and going to make her order.

That night when they had locked up the diner. Fangs was helping Betty wipe down the counters while jughead and sweetpea mopped the floor. "Erm guys" Betty broke the silence. "Yeah?" The boys said. "I have a slight issue" she said and the boys stopped what they were doing to give her their full attention. They say in a booth and jughead lifted Betty up on the table to talk to her. "What's up?" He said. "There's a parent teacher conference at school that I have to attend so teachers can talk about how well I'm doing and well... my mom won't go..." she sighed. "Oh baby" jug said. "Well why don't we go, technically your living with me and I can apply to be your legal guardian sheriff Keller said so you can stay living with me until 18" he said. "Really, you'd all go?" She smiled. "Of course we would" fangs said. "Anything for you betts" Jug said.
