Bughead: The Diner

Chapter 13

The day of the parent teacher conference was a Friday. They shut up the diner early and all made their way to Riverdale High. "Okay I'll go and get my schedule to see my teachers I'll be right back" Betty said and skipped off to sign in, her little pink skirt flowing behind her. "Look. It's chuck and his possy" sweetpea growled as he spotted chuck and a few of the footballers and cheerleaders standing, waiting for their parents. Jughead and fangs looked over scowling and when chuck made eye contact jughead smirked. When Betty came back she was about to lead the boys to the first teacher they had to see when chuck called out behind her. "Cooper? Where's mommy and daddy?" He laughed, word had gotten around quickly that Betty was living with her boyfriend on the Southside because he mom was abusive. Betty ignored it and took jugheads hand and they started walking away. "Does he hit you too?" Chuck shouted after them causing Betty to freeze. "Breathe baby" Jug whispered in her ear. "You better watch your mouth!" Sweetpea yelled. Jughead and fangs looked over, anger all over their features and chuck backed away, looking slightly scared. "Come on betts" Jug smiled and they followed her to her classroom.

"Elizabeth is a great student, ahead of the class and her work is always amazing!" Her science teacher praised. "So are you All Elizabeth's legal guardians?" The man asked confused. "Just me. I'm her boyfriend jughead Jones" Jug said. "I see. No parents?" He asked again. Betty looked down and shook her head and Jughead squeezed her hand. "Okay well I'm very happy with Elizabeth's grades and she's got a bright future" he said and they boys smiled. After seeing a few more teachers all singing praises for Betty they were finally ready to see the last teacher; English. All three of the boys knew that Betty's favourite subject was English as she wanted to major in journalism. "Come on Einstein last one now" fangs teased as they walked into the classroom. After introducing everyone they all took their seats. "Betty is one of the best, most intelligent student I've ever taught. She's ahead of the class and he work is always exceptional, she has a real gift" her teacher started. "Betty. You have a long and bright future ahead of you. I know You want to be a journalist and let me tell you, you'd be the best one!" She smiled and Betty blushed. "You all should be very proud" the teacher said to the boys. "We are" Jug grinned. "I do have a slight concern though" the teacher said. "Betty always wants to be independent when tasked with a group project, which is fine. But I've never seen you with anyone around school honey apart from Kevin Keller" she said with a sad smile. "Some people have been giving her trouble" Sweetpea said. "Oh?" The teacher said. "It's fine. I just want to keep my head down and get the work done and go home I don't care for socialising" Betty admitted. "Okay" the teacher said with a small smile. "Well that's all" she said and they said their goodbyes.

That night when Betty and jughead were in bed and rolled over so she was facing him and kissed him softly causing him to grin. "What was that for baby?" He asked. "Thank you for today. You guys didn't have to do that" she smiled. "I love you Betty and so do fangs and sweetpea and I meant it when I said We are your family" he said and pulled her closer to him. "I love you too" she said and snuggled into his chest and falling asleep.
