The Only Reason

Chapter 4

Jade's pov

Beep beep beep

I turned off the alarm and groaned. It's Monday, which means I have to go back to school. And who the fuck likes mondays?

I dragged myself out of bed and got ready. It was sunny and hot outside but I still put on my black hoodie and skinny jeans. I walked to school and my brain finally started functioning again. Maybe I'll see Calum today! I think we're friends now, I hope he feels the same.

My first classes were pretty uncomfortable. People either looked at me with disgust or gave me a sad smile. I guess they've found out.

I got excited when I saw Calum sitting in Luke's seat in math though.

"Hey" I said and sat down next to him.

"Hey, I spoke with the teacher so I've switched seats with Luke" he said pretty quiet.

"Thank God" I whispered to myself.

"Thank God!" Luke said out loud when he walked into the classroom.

"Cal, you're a real one. I can't believe you were willing to sit next to depressed girl over here so I didn't have to" He said and gave Calum one of their bro hugs thingys.

I looked at Calum with hope that he might say something but he just laughed and told him "of course". He sat down again and gave me a sympathetic smile no one else could see.

Did he seriously just do that?

I knew our friendship was too good to be real.

"Hey" he said and poked me halfway through the lesson. I ignored him at first but he kept poking me.

"What?!" I hissed.

He leaned in and whispered "I'm sorry"

I ignored him once again and he didn't talk to me for the rest of the day. I was finally on my way to my locker after last period.

"Isn't it hot in that hoodie?" I heard a deep voice say. I looked up and met Calum's eyes. He moved a little when I unlocked my locker and kept ignoring him.

"Jade"

Don't answer him.

"Jade, I'm sorry"

He's a douchebag, don't let him get to you.

"Please, let me drive you home at least"

Ignore him!

"Jadeee, talk to me"

Fuck it.

"Why would I waste my time on you? You're one of them and you always have been. You're embarrassed of being with me and I'm not gonna let you ruin my life even more" I growled at him.

"Just let me explain" he reached for my arm but I backed away.

"Sure, explain why you let your friends bully me, then come over to my house, pretended you cared, take me on a freaking road trip and then pretend like it didn't happen just so you wouldn't lose your status"

"I- I'm sorry" was the only thing he said so I rolled my eyes and walked away. Luckily he didn't follow me.

I was greeted by my brother as soon as I came home.

"How was school? Do I need to fight someone?"

He's been overprotective ever since you know what, and it's honestly kind of annoying. But at least I know he cares now.

"It was boring as usual." I said and threw my bag on the floor.

"Is it cool if I have some friends over later?"

"Yeah, If you buy me pizza" I said as a joke but apparently he didn't realise that.

"Yes, are you eating more now? This is amazing, I'll go get it right now. Or do you want to eat it later with me and my friends?"

"Wow chill. I'll just eat later when you guys eat." And with that I walked up to my room and decided to take a power nap. It wasn't short though cause I woke up when Jake screamed that the pizza was here. It was already 8 o'clock.

"Jade, this is-"

"Ashton" a guy with curly hair interrupted Jake and reached out his hand.

"Hi" I said and shook it.

He was really cute. His dimples and hair and everything oh my God, he's a piece of art.

"I'm Liam"

"Niall" the guy next to him said and smiled.

"I'm Louis and this is Harry" he said and pointed to the cute guy with brown, curly hair next to him.

"I can introduce myself" Harry turned to Louis.

"Oh shut up Harold"

"Don't call me that" he said like a little kid.

"Just ignore them" Ashton said and chuckled.

Oh shit. That chuckle. I've never heard anything cuter. Is he even real?

We sat down and talked about the most random things. Everyone was really nice and I found out Ashton likes to play drums. That's hot. According to Louis and Harry, they're not gay or bi but I'm pretty sure I could see the sexual tension between them.

"Are you in a band or something?" I asked Ashton.

"I used to be but not anymore"

"They called it Swallow the goldfish" Harry said and laughed.

"It was a great name!" Ashton defended himself but we all just laughed. After a while he couldn't help but laugh and joined in.

"Are you gonna eat the rest of your pizza?" Niall asked.

"No take it" i said and giggled when he started eating like he didn't just eat a whole pizza all by  himself just a few minutes ago.

"I think I'm gonna go to bed, it was fun hanging with y'all" I said and stood up.

"I'm proud of you for eating" Jake said and smiled while the others just looked confused.

"Goodnight guyssss"

"Night jadeee" Niall answered.

They all said goodnight and I could finally fall asleep happy. I had a good time tonight. And best of all, I forgot about Calum and Luke.
