Chapter 6

Jade's pov

I put in my headphones and listened to Demi Lovato as I headed home after school. A car stopped next to me and I looked up to see a white pickup truck I recognized.

"Get in!" Calum rolled down his window and said.

I happily got to the other side and hopped in.

"Wanna go for some ice cream?" He said and started driving.

"Is that even a question?" I asked and he just smiled in response.

"How did you do it?" I asked.

"Do what?" He looked at me when we hit a red light.

"I don't know.. you just walked into my life and made me eat and happy, it's weird" I said and looked at my hands.

"We gotta take care of those we don't wanna lose" he smiled and made me blush.

We bought ice cream and then sat down on a bench. My phone buzzed saying I got a text.

Jake:

Dinners at 7

Me:

Can I bring a friend?

Jake:

YOU HAVE A FRIEND? YES OF COURSE YOU CAN BRING IT.

Me:

It? Uhhh it is called Calum.

Jake:

Whatever, see ya soon sis

"Who was that?" Calum asked.

"My brother, do you wanna eat dinner with us later?"

"Sure!"

"My parents aren't home so it's only you, me and Jake."

"So what do you wanna do in the meantime?" He asked and finished his ice cream.

"Well what can we do without one of your friends seeing us together?" I said and finished my ice cream as well.

"I don't care if anyone sees us together." He said and gave me a warm smile, which I returned.

"Have you ever played fifa?"

"What's fifa?" he looked at me in shock.

"How can you not know what fifa is" he said and put a hand over his heart.

"Sorry? You can show me though!" he dragged me back to his car and started the car.

"I'm gonna beat yo ass Cal" I said when he came back from the bathroom. He taught me how to play and I'm obviously really bad at it.

"A frog would play better than you!" He jumped and landed in the sofa, right next to me.

"Pfft, I've been letting you win, I'm actually a pro"

"Yeah sure" He said and started the game.

"Oh wait!" Calum looked at me. "It's almost 7 we gotta go" he turned it off and sprinted out to his car, with me right behind him.

"Here you go, my love" He said and opened the passenger door for me. I froze and tried to take in what he just called me. My love. Holy shit am I starting to like Calum..?

"Something wrong?" His face turned into a frown.

"Uh, no sorry" I said and got in.

We blasted music all the way to my house and he parked next to the other cars on my driveway.

"Oh I guess Jake's friends are here" I said as we walked towards the front door.

"Jade?!" A familiar voice said once we were inside. Suddenly Ashton came running towards me. He wrapped me in a hug and caught me by surprise.

"Finally! The other boys are so boring right now" He said and rolled his eyes.

"Hi" Calum said a little awkward.

"Oh hi! I'm Ashton" he said and did one of those weird hugs with Calum.

"I'm Calum, but you can call me Cal"

We sat down in the kitchen and all of the boys were there. Niall, Liam, Louis, Harry and obviously Jake.

"Hiiiii" Niall squealed

"Hiii" I said and he laughed.

"I thought I was your only friend... no offense" Calum leaned in and whispered in my ear.

"I've only met them once before, they're friends with Jake" I explained and he nodded.

"You didn't tell me you had a boyfriend" Ashton said.

"Oh no we're not... he's not-"

"We're not together" Calum helped me.

He looked down at me with his beautiful eyes and smiled. The other guys looked at each other like they didn't believe us.

I caught both Ashton and Calum looking at me multiple times during dinner. I got really insecure, people only look at me like that when I can hear them talk shit about me or judge me.

"Yo lets go outside and eat marshmallows by the fire" my brother said and they all hurried outside. Calum got along with them pretty well so he followed them.

Then there was just me and Jake left, fixing the dishes.

"I think they like you" he said.

"I hope they do, I don't wanna be annoying and ruin your evening"

"No, I think Ashton and Calum both like you... more than just friends."

"Ha, like that would ever happen" I said and felt a lump in my throat.

I've never been good enough for anyone, why would it suddenly change?

"I saw how they looked at you" he turned to face me.

"No one will ever like me that way" I said with a tear making its way down my face.

He gave me a warm hug and I let myself cry.

"It's okay, you deserve the best gentleman out there and if they don't like you for who you are then fuck them" he still had his arms wrapped around me and comforted me.

"Don't take that literally, don't actually fuck them. You know what I mean" I let out a laugh and pulled away

"Thanks, for caring and being a good brother. Mom and dad are still the same as they were before I..."

"Don't think about them. I'll always be here, you can always come to me if anyone ever tries to hurt you. Even if it's one of my friends. I'll never survive without you Jade" I gave him another hug and wiped away my tears.

"Are you okay?" I heard Ashton say.

"Yeah, im fine" I said and tried to hide the fact that I had been crying. I saw his body coming towards me and then felt his strong arms surround me in a hug.

"Whatever it is, I'm here okay?" He whispered in my ear. I nodded in reply and felt like staying in his arms forever.

What if Ashton and Calum actually likes me?

One thing I know for sure is that I catch feeling very easily, and the way they've been treating me, I doubt I won't catch feelings for them.

The problem is that I'm me, and my mind tells me they'll never ever like me back.
