Arya Stark is the youngest child of Lord Rickard Stark, Lord of Winterfell and Warden of the North. Her eldest brother, Brandon Stark is betrothed to Catelyn Tully. Her brother Eddard is being fostered at the Eyrie by Jon Arryn with his best friend Robert Baratheon, who is engaged to her elder sister, Lyanna Stark. Arya is named after her grandmother on her mother's side. She will be leaving shortly for Casterly Rock where she will meet, and then marry her betrothed, Ser Jaime Lannister, the recently knighted for prowess in battle, future heir to Casterly Rock. It is an ideal match, and while she didn't have much say in the matter, as her father, Lord Rickard, told her she had to marry him, she did not put up much resistance as there is no way she would ever be able to change her father's mind. Secretly she hopes to have a happy marriage with Jaime, like the one her parent's have had, and the one Robert and Lyanna will have when they are married.
