Yzzie's POV
"She has a bad case of food poisoning. Good thing you brought her here on time. She is suffering from dehydration already with high fever pa. She needs to take a lot of rest and fluids."
I cut my eyes at the doctor who is busy checking my vitals then the tubes that are dangling from my arm. Alex is patiently listening to him.
I looked at myself and I shook my head. I am wearing a hospital gown which I really hate. I hate hospitals. I hate the smell. It reminds me of death.
"Do whatever you need to do for her fast recovery," I heard Alex said that.
"Alright. Just give me a ring if you need anything," bumaling sa akin ang doctor. "More fluids Ms. Gaviola. You need that." At ngumiti siya tapos ay umalis na.
"I told you I don't want to be in here. I hate hospitals. Bakit ba ang kulit – kulit mo?" inis na sabi ko kay Alex ng makaalis ang doctor.
Tinaasan lang ako ng kilay ni Alex.
"If I didn't bring you here, baka nanigas ka na sa bahay mo because of food poisoning. Saka bakit ka kumain ng expired na de – lata? Wala ka bang pambili ng pagkain?" sagot niya sa akin.
"I didn't know that spam is already expired," sabi ko sa kanya at inirapan ko siya. Kaya pala weird na ang lasa 'nung kinain ko ang spam na iyon. Akala ko bagong flavor lang.
"The doctor said you need to rest for a couple of days. May mga test pa daw na gagawin sa iyo kaya ilang araw ka pang kailangan na mamalagi dito," sagot niya sa akin.
"And I'll be bored to death in here," inis na sagot ko.
Nakita kong napailing si Alex at humila ng isang silya tapos ay naupo malapit sa akin.
"When do you plan to tell your dad about your condition?" seryosong tanong niya sa akin. He is just looking seriously at my face. Parang na – conscious naman ako. Ngayon ko lang napansin, ang kinis pala ng face ni Alex. And he got a really nice nose. Ang tangos.
"He doesn't need to know. He disowned me so wala na siyang pakiealam kung ano ang mangyari sa akin," sabi ko. My father doesn't need to know that I am sick. Pinabayaan na nga niya ako.
Nakita kong napailing si Alex at napahinga ng malalim.
"He needs to know about this, Yzzie. He needs to know that he is going to be a grandfather soon."
Gulat akong napatingin kay Alex. Anong sinasabi ng siraulong 'to?
"What 'he's going to be a grandfather soon' are you talking about?" taka kong tanong sa kanya.
Alex pulled out something from his jeans and showed it to me. It's a pregnancy test kit.
"What – where did you get this?"
"From your house. On your drawer. What happened, Yzzie?" kita ko ang disappointment sa mukha ni Alex.
"Do you think I am pregnant?" pinipigil ko na ang mapatawa.
"Aren't you?"
Hindi ko napigil ang sarili ko at tumawa ako ng malakas. Kahit masakit pa ang tiyan ko ay hindi ko talaga napigilan ang sarili ko. Kitang – kita ko ang pagtataka sa mukha ni Alex dahil sa reaksyon ko.
"It's not mine you stupid idiot!" sabi ko sa kanya habang tumatawa.
"Then kanino ang pregnancy kit na ito?" alam kong pinipigil lang niya ang inis.
