"come on, hyuck," jeno said, grinning as he linked arms with donghyuck, "we've got training."

"oh, i..." donghyuck trailed off, glancing towards the arts block. he was supposed to be at a dance rehearsal that tuesday-

"yo, donghyuck, hurry up," jaemin said, walking ahead.

"i am," donghyuck snapped, reaching into his pocket for a chocolate bar. he unwrapped it as he walked with jeno, and was about to take a bite out of it when jaemin snatched it out of his hand.

"yukhei says we should watch what we eat," jaemin said innocently.

"jaemin," donghyuck deadpanned.

"i'm just saying-"

"you fucking give that back, na jaemin," donghyuck uttered, letting go of jeno's arm and reaching for his precious chocolate.

"you don't need it, fatty," jaemin said, tossing the chocolate into a nearby bin. "you've been really slow in training lately. i'm doing you a favour."

"jaemin," renjun said in shock.

"what?"

"you can't just do that," the chinese boy protested, noticing the deeply hurt expression on donghyuck's face which he quickly hid.

"do what?" jaemin asked.

donghyuck had the urge to grab jaemin by the throat and shove him against the lockers and maybe even beat the shit out of him. but jaemin was his best friend.

"you are dumb as fuck," donghyuck sneered before entering the locker room.

he silently seethed in the corner as he changed into his kit, his back to the rest of them. he pulled his blue soccer shirt over his head and sighed, rubbing his eyes. luckily he seemed to have gotten rid of his cold, but he was feeling increasingly guilty about missing dance rehearsals. what if he was putting his part in the musical at risk?

"see you guys outside," haknyeon said with a grin. "smashing job at the game, donghyuck," he added, hitting donghyuck's shoulder.

donghyuck smirked and ruffled haknyeon's blond hair, messing it up.

"yah, get off," he laughed.

"come on, you idiot," sunwoo laughed. "hurry up, baby," he added to jisung, who looked at him indignantly.

"just because i'm a freshman," jisung grumbled, knotting his laces irritatedly and stalking after his hyungs.

most of the team had gone out, leaving the four friends in the locker room.

"are you coming?" jaemin asked, holding the door open.

"yeah, in a minute," donghyuck muttered. "go on."

jaemin raised an eyebrow as donghyuck untied his laces and began to tie them again.

"go on," the peachy-haired boy said with a forced laugh.

"come on, then, jae," said jeno, patting jaemin on the back.

"alright," said jaemin, "just hurry up before coach, or more likely captain, yells at us."

"hey, hyuck," renjun said quietly, "want me to wait for you?"

donghyuck smiled, shaking his head. "go on, ren," he told him.

the chinese boy nodded, but gave a dubious glance over his shoulder as he left the locker rooms.

lee donghyuck let his head fall into his hands.
