donghyuck reads his letter

"but- but, hyung!"

doyoung threw his little brother a look as he pulled on a dark blue sweater. tugging it down over his belt, the taller raised an eyebrow.

"but what?" he asked, sticking his feet in his bunny slippers and shuffling out of his bedroom.

donghyuck followed, still whining. "but it's christmas, hyung. i don't want to spend christmas with na jaemin."

doyoung paused, and looked back at the redhead. "well, tough, because you will be."

"hyung!" he shrieked. "i can't believe mom agreed to this."

"what kind of mother would want to allow her son's friends to spend christmas alone?" doyoung pointed out.

donghyuck was still whining as he followed doyoung downstairs.

"you don't know what he said to me," the redhead piped up.

doyoung stopped in the middle of the living room and turned to look at his little brother.

"what did he say?" he asked in a level tone.

donghyuck pouted. "i haven't spoken to him in weeks, but-"

"then it's about time you two talked," the black-haired guy cut him off.

the redhead let out a heavy sigh. "fine," he muttered, and stomped back up the stairs to his room.

he walked back, closing the door and leaning against it. he pushed up the sleeves of his black hoodie (which rather matched his mood that morning), crossed his arms; uncrossed his arms, pulled his sleeves over his hands. he pulled his hood down over his face, letting out a screech. when he shoved his hood down, his eyes were fixed on the piece of paper on his bed.

the letter from jaemin.

"jaemin, why..." he mumbled, shuffling towards the letter and picking it up. he read it again.

dear donghyuck, it read, i need to apologise.

"i think you fucking do," donghyuck had snapped upon reading those words the first time. he read on.

there's not much i can say to make you forgive me.

what i did was disgusting, i want to say sorry for treating you the way i did.

writing all over the posters was uncalled for.

if you are gay, just know that i don't care, it's fine by me. you were my best friend and i still love you, even if you hate me. i guess i was just jealous.

it's okay, though. you can have your friends back, i don't have a right to keep jeno and renjun away from you. i won't be around to bother you anymore.

anyway, merry christmas, donghyuck.

from jaemin.

the redhead tossed the paper aside, collapsing on his bed with a groan. he tugged a hand through his hair.

"jaemin, why you gotta go make me fucking stressed like this?" he muttered into his pillow. "i won't be around to bother you anymore, what the fuck does that mean?" donghyuck whined. "i was scared he wouldn't come back..."

the doorbell rang and donghyuck nearly jumped out of his skin.

"oh my god," he grumbled, sitting up, hair at odd angles. he found his other fluffy sock and pulled it on.
