mark turned off his music (which was, yet again, the universe soundtrack) as he stopped his car outside donghuck's apartment. almost as soon as he'd parked by the sidewalk, he saw a head of peachy fluff emerge from the doors and donghyuck had come running out, down the steps at breakneck speed.

"hey, hyung!"

mark found himself smiling.

"hey," he said.

donghyuck yanked the front passenger seat door open, tossing his backpack on the floor and climbing in.

"i didn't really want to go to the game," the peachy-haired boy admitted as he fastened his seatbelt, "but i guess i should."

"i'm glad," mark said. "i mean- i'm sure jeno and renjun will be glad you came."

the peachy-haired boy gave mark the side-eye. "mm-hmm," he replied. "you got music?" he questioned, turning on the radio.

"i'm married to the music~"

"someone's obsessed," donghyuck chuckled. "didn't realise you liked the musical this much."

"i've had the cd for a while," mark lied.

"it was first performed last year," donghyuck drawled. he skipped tracks until he got back to what is love? and sat back in his seat. "favourite song?"

"probably universe," mark muttered.

"oh, yeah? the one i sing," donghyuck said smugly.

"no, the one kim jongdae sings," he corrected with a glare.

"you've got a crush on kim jongdae."

"obviously," he scoffed.

donghyuck burst out laughing. "me, too, bitch. that man can hit some crazy notes."

mark giggled, shaking his head. "he's amazing."

"am i as good?" donghyuck asked suddenly. "as chen, i mean. obviously i can't beat jongdae on-"

"yeah," mark said.

the peachy-haired boy stopped and looked at him.

"you are," the older added. "really good."

donghyuck raised his eyebrows and turned his head to the window, hiding a smile and rosy cheeks.

"wait, hyung!" donghyuck yelled, nearly making mark swerve in the middle of the road.

"what?" he gasped.

"can we stop at that milkshake shop over there, please, hyung?" donghyuck whined pointing.

mark checked the time on the dashboard.

"i guess," he said reluctantly, "we've still got some time before the game."

he pulled up outside the shop and donghyuck jumped out of the car, wallet in hand.

"i'll be back in a second!"

the older just sighed and waited in the car.

soon enough donghyuck came running back with two milkshakes, his wallet in the back pocket of his black skinny jeans.

"here, hyung," he puffed, handing mark a chocolate milkshake.

"donghyuck, you shouldn't keep buying me-"

"think of it as fuel money," he cut him off. "you've given me a lift twice now, so we're even."

mark chuckled, surprised. "okay," he agreed, sipping at his drink. "damm, this is good."
