Climbing the Mountain

I found a dialogue prompt on Pinterest and wanted to do a thing. This will probably be really short but yesterday's was super long so ig it evens out?

(Roman and Virgil are already dating)

"Why did I agree to this?" I asked, gazing at the mountain with dread.

"Because you love me," Virgil said. "Or because I would've dragged you with me anyway."

"That last one sounds more believable," I grumbled.

"Oh, c'mon, Roman, I love hiking."

I rolled my eyes and begrudgingly began walking.

Even though I hated it, I have to admit it was nice seeing Virgil so at peace. Nature seemed to calm him down, and though his smiles were rare, they were always amazing.

Even so, I was having a horrible time.

The sun beat down on us, draining my energy. The brief relief provided by the trees' shade was ruined by bugs. My backpack seemed to grow heavier and heavier.

"Ugh, this is torture!" I finally shouted, and collapsed on the ground. "I can't go any farther."

Virgil rolled his eyes. "Roma-"

"No! This is my life now. I have climbed this hill and I will die upon it."

"Shut up, we've been hiking for twenty minutes."

. . .

Although it was extremely hot at first, clouds began to cover the sky and we trekked on.

"Aren't you worried it will rain?" I asked.

"Oh, it's definitely gonna rain," Virgil chuckled. "I'm not worried about it, though."

I gasped. "Virgil! How could you?"

"What?" He asked, grinning.

"What of my hair? Do you only think of yourself?"

Virgil merely laughed. "I think you'll survive."

I didn't really mind. Anything beat the heat. It's just fun to be dramatic sometimes.

As the rain poured down on us, Virgil became totally carefree. He was almost like a totally new person. He spun around and laughed, an image of pure joy. As he spun, he slipped and landed in my arms. He looked up at me and smiled.

"Thank you, Roman."

Those three words made this entire, horrible hike worth it.

Yeah so there was no point in that XD but it was really fun to write overdramatic Roman lol
