My eyes lingered on his blue eyes as they crinkled at the corners and his lips pulled into a smile. He ordered his coffee black, like I did, and drank it within two minutes, like I did, then ordered another one for the road, like I did. He stayed in the café for a few extra minutes as I ordered my third coffee and he was on his fourth.
I walked swiftly to the car allowing my golden skin to soak in the morning sun and just as I was about to hit the gas pedal and be on with my travels, he caught my eye in the car next to me. I gave him a shy smile and he held up his coffee to me, as if he was bidding me farewell, or maybe telling me he hoped to see my again.
Both of which happened and neither went the way I imagined it.
