I climbed the rickety ladder and ascended into the tree house. The wind was strong and the light dim. I cried with dispair as I steadily walked across the old floorboards, this was it time to give up. I knew from the start the new house wouldn't end well. I knew it would end this way, the hallowing sound of silence shivered through my body, the light of the day was slowly fading and the moon was breaking through it's barely sunlit boundaries. The whispering breeze swirled around my head and danced through my black locks. The smell of uncertainty filled the somewhat unbreathable air. I fell to my knees and crawled further across the floor. I hawled myself up onto the window and peered out.

I wondered what to do next, I couldn't go back there. I began to feel dizzy and nauseous. The house began to shake and the tree became unsturdy. I heard a loud crunching noise and suddenly I was falling, falling through the tree.

But I didn't hit the ground, I continued to fall. The world around me became bright and my head felt as if it would explode.

I fell further and further, the ground nowhere to be found. The sudden sound of silence was replaced with a quiet hum, a distant but quiet buzzing hum that made my ears sting. The pain was in-imaginable but the freedom was incredible. It was like I was flying instead of falling.

I opened my arms and let fate take over. I felt this sensation of hope, I didn't know what would happen to me or Halli, but in that moment I felt like I'd be okay.

The unbearable pain of not knowing where I would be headed was soon replaced by the feeling of eventually finding the ground below me. My head had hit the concrete and instead of feeling agony I felt happiness. My hands became numb followed by the rest of my body. The world around me became a distant memory as I closed my eyes and let fate take over. I opened my eyes again and in the distance between the winding trees I saw a tiny white light. It flickered for a while then seemed to completely disappear.

I knew it was time. I had to give up.

"HALLI!" A voice called out.

I could barely open my eyes to find out who was there, I was just happy I was still alive.

"Halli, you're okay, don't give up!" I heared them cry.

The voice drew in closer. I found the strength to open my eyes and saw my Mother leaning over me.

"What... What happened?" I said, my voice cracking.

"You fell a long way Alex, but it's okay we'll build your strength back up, you're in safe hands." She replied stroking my forehead softly.

"Where's Halli?" I asked cautiously.

My mother looked past me and I then realized my Father was also kneeled down next to me.

"Who's Halli love?" He questioned with a confused tone.

"The girl, in my room, she was me, I was her!!" I responded.

They both looked at each other, then looked back at me, their expression was some what terrifying.

"Who's Halli?" They said in unison.

I shook my head, closed my eyes and when I opened them again my parents added.

"Who's Halli?"

"I just told you who she was!" I proclaimed

Suddenly the world around me split, the sky, the ground, everything. The cracks appeared everywhere. What was once an incredibly beautiful forest was now broken like a newly bought jig-saw puzzle. My mind began to spin uncontrollably, and when the spinning stop the darkness began. No light seeping into the world, just pitch blackness.

I awoke in a lab chair, covered in wires and connected to some sort of machine. The room was white as bright as fresh snow, with nothing more than just a chair, the machine and a desk. There seemed to be a small yet sun-like light beaming down into my eyes, I tried to cover my eyes with my arm but I realized that I was strapped down to the uncomfortable chair. I soon realized that I wasn't alone in the small, weird room. Sat at the desk was a girl, her back to me it was hard to make out who she may be. Suddenly it all rushed back to me, the girl was Halli. But what did she want from me? I tried to struggle out of the chair, but my yelps of pain caused her to spin around and glare at me. I stopped struggling and listened to the sound of her high-pitched voice,

"You're awake!" She chuckled.

"What are you?" I cried.

"The question is dear Alex, what are you?" She responded.
