I reached the magnificent entrance into the forest. There were five trees placed perfectly in such a way that they created an unusual arch way. There was a slow breeze on that day and so there wasn't much noise coming from the rustling branches. I stepped through the grand archway and into the forest.

Sheltered by huge ancient trees I cautiously walked along the pre-made path. Either side of the path was overgrowth and sharp nettles. The path seemed to continuously unwind in multiple directions. When I arrived at the first little cross road I decided to continue on the path directly in front of me so that I wouldn't become lost as I tried to return back to the house. I explored for about another hour until I realised that the sun was fading away from the sky. I span around and as I did so in the corner of my eye I noticed a small yet bright light. At first it appeared as a fairy would, but I was reluctant to believe any sort of children's mythical creatures. The light flickered but then reappeared stronger and more florescent than before. I was fascinated and entranced by such a beautiful sight that I completely forgot about the incoming darkness above my head. I stepped away from the path and headed towards the left and closer to the light. I got closer and closer and as I did so I felt my heart pound faster and faster. The light became smaller and I was eventually close enough to see the source of the over whelming spark. It seemed as if the light was a beacon to lead me in the direction of discovery. I followed it as it led me to a spectacular tree house.

The house was in a giant oak tree it had two floors and a magnificent balcony over looking the tallest of trees. The light summoned me to climb the ladder, as I put my foot onto the first rope step I felt a sensation of happiness shiver through my body. I'd found somewhere in which I could shelter and hide away from the rest of the world. I stepped up onto the old rope ladder and began climbing. As I climbed higher and higher I noticed that the light which had led me there had completely disappeared. I peered around and suddenly anxiety struck through my body. I looked up at the long ladder above me and realised that the clouds had turned a dark grey colour. With in moments there was an almighty roar of thunder and a flash of blinding lightning. I decided to try and safely climb back down the ladder but the pure shock of the thunder caused me to slip and almost fall. Luckily I pulled myself together and darted through the forest sheltering from the storm amongst the trees. I knew I had to run fast as it is not safe to be near trees when lightning strikes. The rain started to fall heavily through the branches and my heart began to beat faster and faster. My steps became shorter and shorter and eventually I was out. Out of the forest and in close proximity to my house. The rain fell so hard and heavily that it seemed to bounce up from the ground. Thankfully my trustworthy coat gave a mean fight against the storm and kept me dry and somewhat warm.

I rushed inside and after I had slammed the front door behind me I heard my Father shout,

"Alex there's some take-away left for you in the kitchen if you want it."

I smiled and returned,

"Sure, thanks Dad."

I headed into the living room and hung my sodden coat onto it's hook to dry. I then walked straight through to the kitchen to collect my food. My Mother was nowhere to be seen. Not to worried I grabbed a plate and pilled on a mountain of chips. Then I traced back into the living room and sat down in front of the TV.

"Where's Mum?" I asked between shovels of food.

"In bed love." He responded.

I smiled and continued eating. Once I had finished I cleaned up my plate and kissed my Father goodnight I crawled up the stairs to spend the first night in my new house.

I remembered what had happened earlier and became very afraid to sleep in that room alone. What if that thing that destroyed my book came back, what if it was out to get me? I wondered whether the light in the forest was real or not and whether it something to do with the book incident.

I kept myself awake for hours staring at the wooden beams and trying to keep warm in my attic room. Eventually I managed to doze off but only for a few hours.

I awoke the next day to the sound of my Mother's squeaky voice,

"Get up, we're going shopping!" She yelled.
