"Where do we start?" I asked.

"That's the thing Alex, I don't know. I have a tracking device, but it can only pick up paranormal activity on small ranges. Also I don't know how effective it will be whilst tracking a forgotten species." She replied as she held up another small hand-held device, the tracking device. Or the 'TD' for short. It was a small grey box with a large red antenna sticking out of one end, it looked as if it had never worked.

We headed outside and Halli briefed me with a plan,

"Look here's another TD." She said as she handed me the little device.

"Just go and explore, I'll meet you back here later on tonight."

"And if I don't find anyone.."

"Then you're not going to be returning home any time soon."

The conversation came to an abrupt end and I stormed off away from her. I wanted to return home, but where was home?

I headed off, on my own little journey, covering land far and wide. After searching for what felt like an eternity I couldn't have been happier to hear the sound of the TD buzzing. But there were so many people around I couldn't tell who was setting off the buzzer. I couldn't just walk up to people and ask if they were human or not. It didn't work like that. I mean they'd think I'm crazy. I had to get close to someone and see if the tracker gave off a louder beeping noise.

I staggered through an old, build-up shopping centre. It was packed full of busy shoppers and the shops were over-flowing with noisy children. I entered every shop and looked around, hoping for some sort of lead, I had to find someone who was apart of 'the forgotten species'. I mean I wanted to see my parents again, it's just I didn't know whether to call that house my home. And Halli knows where I live so there was no escaping her if I didn't get the job done. The job was a mighty task, which was proving to be a lot more difficult that first viewed.

I continued to search around until finally the pulse grew stronger and the beeps became more rapid and louder than before. I found myself stood next to a tall, dark haired man. He was wearing skinny black jeans, and a grey tank top. His hair combed into a tiny pony tail.

"Umm excuse me sir.." I introduced myself to his presence.

"Yes." He replied looking down at me.

"Look this is going to take some explaining, do you have a moment?" I asked showing him the tracker, which was now exploding with noise.

"Uh yeah kid, I think I know what this is about." He responded.

He signaled for me to follow him outside, and I followed his lead around the back of the shop and into a near by alley way.

"Is this about Halli?" He asked.

"Oh thank goodness, you know about the forgotten species then?" I replied.

"Look kiddo, I don't know what that wacko girl told you, but I want nothing to do with her and her schemes okay." He said bluntly.

"But I can't see my family again, until I help her!" I cried.

He shook his head, placed his hand on my shoulder and knelt down to my level.

"Don't you see, she told me the same story as well, She tried to draw me in, the only forgotten species is you, when your parents give up the missing persons case whilst trying to find you!"

He stood up straight again, brushed off his knees and tightened his pony tail.

"I need to go, chin up kiddo, just go home okay. It'll all be okay in the end." He whispered as he returned back to the main street.

Chin up, Chin up! I had some creepy ghost girl on my back and he told me to chin up. I needed to get away. But his words lingered in my mind, was I truly the only forgotten one, I didn't know how long I'd been gone. Would my parents have really given up on me by now?
