Mission 36: An Attempted Murder

Your POV

Dear Diary

Someone has crossed me. Someone has done a wrong. Someone went against the rules. Someone has attempted murder of Vylad Ro'Meave.

I intend to put on my detective hat. Find a magnifying glass. And get to the bottom of this. Clyde approached me and asked me to take the lead on this case. Especially since it was one of the elite members. Someone living in my house.

We know it's one of the elite members because of the gun that was left on scene. It had the special emblem that Clyde only gave to the elite. There were no fingerprints found. This is the only lead we have. I don't think I can do this alone. I can't ask any of the elite. I think I have a person in mind though...

Till I solve this attempted murder case.

I closed the book and locked it away. I scrambled up tiredly to Laurance's room. I had spent most of the morning draining myself of who and why someone did this.

"Laurance?" I called from the other side of the door.

He opened it with a surprised look on his face. "Hey. What's up?"

"Can I come in?"

He stepped out of the way and gestured for me to come in.

"I need your help." I started, sitting in his desk chair.

"Sure anything."

"I need you to help me solve an attempted murder."

He seemed shocked at first. Not for too long though. A smirk crept onto his face.

"So let me get this straight. There's been an attempted murder. I'm the only Shadow Knight bad guy figure in the house. You want the bad guy help to solve a murder I'm probably top of the suspect list for?"

I stood up and walked closer to him. "You say all that as if I haven't thought this through?"

I grabbed his collar and pulled him down to my level. "I know you didn't do it."

"You seem so sure. I have all the best motives. What if Vylad had intelligence that I needed to get rid of. What if I simply wanted to end his misery?"

I smiled. "I know you didn't do it because the night it happened you spent it with me."

He stopped and turned this over in his head. "I could have left without out you noticing?"

"That's close to impossible. No one ever gets past me."

He smiled. "Alright looks like you've got yourself a partner detective."

I let him go. "Why were you trying to make me think it was you in the first place?"

"Just making sure your detective skills were on point."

I smirked. "Come one. We're going to the basement. Bring that chair."

I pointed to the desk chair. He picked it up and followed me out the door. While we set up a makeshift investigation room, I updated him on everything I knew.

"So why don't we just get everyone to bring in the gun that was used? You know since it's so special? One elite member shouldn't have one." Laurance sat in one of the two chairs behind the desk.

The room was simple. A desk, one chair on one side, and two on the other. I also managed to find a bright light that you could move around so we could shine it in peoples faces. I think I'm taking this to far.

"I thought about that as well. Since the guns are so special. They have made extras just in case they get damaged in battle. There also made for the next generations. Only elite members know how to find them and how to get them."

He nodded. "We should ask them anyways to bring them down. It could give us clues."

I nodded. "Laurance I'm sorry Vylad got hurt."

He was silent. "It's alright. I mean I never got to close to anyone. Gene was the closest thing I had to a friend."

"Well, you have us now. As crazy as things are. I mean someone just tried to kill a prisoner."

He laughed. "You guys are insane."

There was a pause. "Why do you think they would want to kill Vylad. Also, how did an elite member miss a shot?"

"Well, they could be angry about... Nicole. He just managed to survive. The bullet grazed his heart. It was a miracle he survived."

He took a deep breath and leaned back in his chair. "I say we get this started."

"I agree. Let the investigations begin."
