I slowly made my way downstairs, my sword at the ready and hockey mask down on my face. I quickly summoned the All Seeing Eye and scanned the garden behind a wall. The only thing I saw besides the roses was a small woman smelling the flowers. I moved as quietly as I could, sneaking up behind her. Since she was wearing a giant hat, I couldn't see her head or hair. I drew my sword and held the point behind her neck.
"Alright, whoever you are. You have ten seconds to explain who you are and why you're here before I turn you into confetti." I said, the mask still covering my face. The woman turned around and all my confidence and bravado vanished. She had green hair, light lavender eyes and spades on her cheeks. The woman was Eclipsa, Queen of Darkness in the flesh. I dropped my sword and fell flat on my butt.
"Hello. Who are you?" Eclipsa spoke with a slight British accent. "No, wait. Let me guess: you're a knave!" I quickly stood back up and grabbed my sword.
"No! I am Jacob Day Diaz, boyfriend of Star Butterfly! I already know who you are, so don't bother explaining, Eclipsa." I said. Eclipsa pulled a chocolate bar out of nowhere and took a bite. She then closely examined my mask, chocolate still in her mouth.
"Is that the All Seeing Eye? That's one of my spells. How did you do that?" She asked, kind of excited. She reminds me of Star, big time. She then looked at my sword. "And that sword? Let me see that." I pulled my sword away.
"No! You're evil! I mean, hello!? Forbidden chapter? Queen of Darkness? Messed around with dark magic? Sealed away in a crystal for who knows how long!? That ring a friggin bell!?" I whisper yelled. Eclipsa tilted her head in confusion.
"Forbidden? Is that what they're calling my chapter?" Wha-I how...? HOW DOES SHE NOT KNOW THIS!? SHE WROTE THAT FRIGGIN CHAPTER! Ugh. Whatever. Eclipsa took another bite of her candy bar. "And if the Magic High Commission and Moon think using dark magic is evil, call me a villainess!" She said, trying to be funny. I'll admit, it was a little funny. I sighed.
"Alright. Fine. Here's my sword." I said, handing the sharp stabby thing to the evil woman in front of m-WHY DID I GIVE HER MY SWORD!? She examined it all over until seeing the inscription.
"Aww... this is the sword he made for me. How sweet." She looked at me. "Where did you find this?" I awkwardly scratched the back of my head.
"I found it in Ludo's castle. Guess you want it back now?" I asked. Instead of replying yes, she handed it back to me.
"Nah. You seem to use it more than I ever would. You can keep it." I took my sword and slid it back into its scabbard. How did anyone find this lady evil? She seems just like Star. I lifted my mask off of my face. Eclipsa tapped my cheeks. "Hmm. Interesting. You're not Mewman. What exactly are you?" I pulled a comb out of my pocket and started combing my hair.
"I'm a human. From Earth. Nobody cared for me there, so when Star came back here, I came with her." I said, blushing at the thought of Star. Eclipsa chuckled.
"You must really love her, don't you?" She asked. I crossed my arms.
"More than anything else in the entire world. I'd gladly give my life to make sure she's safe." I said. I meant every word. If something happened to Star, I don't know what I would do. Eclipsa thought about something for a second.
"Would you like to know how things between you two will be?" She asked. This got my attention. How could she possibly see the future. I nodded. She smiled. "Follow me. I've got something to show you." She walked towards the castle as I followed close behind. We descended into the deepest parts of the castle, Eclipsa singing a song to remember the way. After about ten minutes of walking, we arrived in a large room with mechanical arms writing constantly on never ending sheets of paper. She pulled me into a sub room with a large book sitting on a singular pedestal. Eclipsa blew the dust off of the relic, presenting it to me. "Behold, the book of Mewman history!" She then started vocalizing like a choir for dramatic effect. I opened the book and flipped to a random page. The page I landed on was when Moon severed Toffee's finger. "Go ahead. Touch the picture." Eclipsa said. I slowly touched the picture right above Moon. The picture then started to move, showing the events in full. I gasped.
"Woah! That's insane!" I said, surprised. This book shows history in full detail! Eclipsa smiled.
"I know, right!? We may have the archive, but this is the real way to see history." I flicked through to another page, this time it was the Blood Moon Ball. "You took Star to the Blood Moon Ball? Smart thinking." Eclipsa complemented. That was a complete accident. I didn't mean for that to happen.
"Why was it smart?" I asked.
"Because whoever dances in the light of the Blood Moon are destined to be married." Oh yeah. I forgot about that. I flicked much further ahead in the book, seeing myself as king, but Star was gone. Where did she go? Going back in the book, I saw the castle in distress and a giant Bendy fighting another huge monster. He had four yellow eyes with red skin and white hair tied in a bun on top. The monster punched through Bendy, pulling me out. Bendy melted around his arm as Star flew in with her butterfly form. The monster punched Star into a mountain hard. When he moved his fist, I saw Star stuck in the side of the mountain. She reverted back to her normal state, falling to the ground. Her body was completely lifeless. I stepped back in horror.
"No... no... that can't be... That's not possible... Eclipsa, please tell me that thing is wrong!" I sobbed. Eclipsa shook her head.
"I'm sorry to say the book is never wrong. This is your future." She said. I can't believe this. I looked back in the book. I was holding Star in my arms, crying. She wasn't moving... or breathing. Star was gone. I felt a tear trickle down my face. Star... dies in my arms defending the kingdom. I stood up and looked at Eclipsa.
"There has to be something I can do. I refuse to let my butterfly die like that!" Eclipsa looked down.
"Well, there is one thing, but it's extremely dangerous and forbidden. You have to be absolutely positive about this." I swallowed my sadness and nodded. "Alright. It's called Soul Magic. It's the most powerful magic there is, but if used incorrectly, it could be fatal. Are you sure about this?" I could tell by the way Eclipsa kept asking that this was serious business, but I'll do it. Anything to keep Star safe. I nodded again. "Alright. Let's get started." She said, positioning my hands in the shape of a heart over my actual heart. "Repeat after me: I pledge to Star, my soul to give, so that the one I love will live. To keep her safe, that is my goal, so I must weaponize my soul. The light side wants me. The dark side needs me. I use them both together. If this promise I break, my soul she takes, to claim as hers forever." I repeated everything Eclipsa said as I felt a pain in my chest. I pulled down my shirt to see black veins circling my heart, leaving the skin covering my heart untouched.
"What is that?! What's going to happen to me!?" I asked, panicked. Eclipsa calmed me down.
"Relax. It's nothing major. Only shows up when you use Soul Magic. Speaking of which, go ahead. Try it out." She said calmly. I extended my hand into a finger gun, waiting something to happen. Suddenly, a small white orb appeared at my fingertip. I cocked my hand back, firing the blast. I then held out my hand as a blue flame enveloped it. Suddenly, a dark blue heart appeared over Eclipsa's chest, slightly lifting her into the air. I saw blue flames coming from my left eye as well, yet it didn't burn. I moved my hand right and Eclipsa floated right. I moved it left and Eclipsa moved left. I set her down, wondering how this "forbidden magic" works. I snapped my fingers, summoning a floating goat skull. I don't know what this is, but I love it. I climbed up and thought of flying. Suddenly, the head started flying around at near top speed. I quickly landed the skull and squealed with excitement.
"This power is amazing! Thanks Eclipsa!" I said delighted. Eclipsa smiled.
"Don't mention it. Just be careful. Soul Magic uses your own life energy, so push it too far and..." she slid a finger across her throat and made a choking sound. I get the picture now. "Oh, by the way. There's one more thing you can do. Just think of a location." She added. I was about ten feet away from Eclipsa, so I thought of being right next to her. Suddenly, I vanished and reappeared right next to Eclipsa. I gasped.
"I can TELEPORT!? How awesome is that!?" I hugged Eclipsa tight. "Thank you so much! You should get out of here. If the commission finds you, who knows what will happen!" Eclipsa nodded and vanished from sight using Soul Magic teleportation. I teleported back to my room, seeing Bendy still liquified in the bottle next to my bed. I got into bed and looked at my chest. The black veins were gone. Feeling relieved, I got comfy and went to sleep.
