Dawn's POV

'There you are!'

'Hey,' I managed to say, giving her a light kiss in the cheek

'I've been looking everywhere for you. You're missing out all the fun!'

'And you look like you're having too much.'

I looked around. It is indeed a celebration. There were balloons, lights and flowers in the open grounds. The pack spared no expense for the occasion.

'Why are you looking so grouchy anyway?' She asked, dancing lightly.

'I got into trouble earlier,' I answered, dismayed at y earlier actions. Albeit Emryl was really the one who started it, the burden still falls on me.

'What kind of trouble?' She leaned towards me, obviously absorbed at my admission. But before I could even say a thin, Amanda patted me on the back.

'Dawn, there you are,' she said the exact same words her daughter used previously. 'I sent Carly to find you because the acceptance rites are about to start,' she added, giving Carly a I-should-have-known look to which her daughter gave a sorry-i-got-distracted-did-you-do-something-to-you-hair?-you-look-great smile in return. 'Come, the dance I about to end.' She ushered me near the bonfire where the others were starting to gather. I watched as some of the ups who are now of right age enjoy the dance floor.

'Dawn, are you paying attention?'

'Huh?' I asked. 'Oh, yeah sure.' I added, bluffing.

'Alright, well don't worry about anything. You'll do fine.' She said in a kind tone but there was nothing kind in the way she was looking at me. She looked like she knew that I was bluffing.

When the music faded away, she pushed me in the center. And no, there was nothing gentle about it and as a result, I stood there awkwardly. First because people were now starting to look at me and it's making me want to run away. Second, Levi is standing in front of me, holding knife. Three, Amanda and Philip are both giving me thumbs up and looking like its perfectly normal for their son to hold a knife in front of the pack.

'Dawn Lancaster,'

Levi's voice filled the silence.

Yep that's me.' I tentatively sad, shaking my hand a little willing my nervousness to go away.

Well, if only you'd listen to Amanda earlier.

I held back a snort. 'You really are in no position to use that tone on me'

'Do you understand,Dawn?'

'Pretty sure I do.' I answered, despite having no idea what Levi was saying. What can I say, I'm a really attentive person.

'Your right hand,' he ordered extending his. Now this part of the ceremony, I'm completely at a loss. I glanced at the knife in his left hand. I had millions of ideas of what was about to happen and boy, not one of them is in my favor.

'You're hand Dawn,' he repeated, this time I could hear his impatience. His hand had mine and I realized how warm his was and how comforting it is to feel both of our hands clasped together.
