Still unedited. Sorry for going AWOL. 🙇🙏

'Hey, why are you looking so grumpy' a voice whom I recognized as Carly's stopped me from gazing the window. 'Nothing' I said and I meant it cause these past few days all I did was sit, eat and sleep. It's been days since that night and since then Levi has been making himself scarce.Or maybe, it's just me. I shrugged.

'Why don't we go shopping?' It was pretty obvious in her voice that her idea appeals so much to her right now but to me, I would have liked to say no but hey, it's better than doing nothing. I was not really into shopping. In fact, when I went to school in my previous pack, I would wear old jeans and shirts while others would wear tops and skirts.I sighed. I wonder what my previous pack is thinking about my disappearance. Maybe they think that I'm probably dead. After all, Julie's family were the only ones who knows my whereabouts. Well, knew since they didn't know I've been held captive. I smiled as I thought about it. I think held captive are not the right words. I'm more of a guest than a prisoner.

'Dawn? Do you want to come with us?'

'Us?'

'Yeah, mom's coming too'

'Oh yeah, give me 15 minutes'

-
'Change!'

I groaned for the nth time. This has been the what, seventh time that she asked me to change outfits.

'Can't we just buy these?'

She gave me a horrified look.

'What? You look like an old maiden in those clothes' she said without even looking at me 'Here, try this'

I gave a defeated sigh and returned to the dressing room. The saleslady kept giving me pitiful looks. Who wouldn't? We've been here for three hours.

Mercifully, Auntie suggested that we should eat cause it's nearly lunch time. I could have wept right there. Ugh, shopping is not really my thing.

'Fine Mom but we still have to buy dresses that we have to wear next week.'

'Why? What's with next week?'

'Nothing just some pack event, that's all.'

I would have like to ask her more but decided against it.
After lunch, Carly dragged me to another botique while Carly's mom is following us. While Carly was busy rummaging dresses, I approached her mom.

'Auntie, what's happening next week?'

She smiled kindly at me.

'We're having the Crescent Ball.'

'A what ball?'

'A Crescent Ball. It only happens once a year to celebrate and thank the Moon Goddess for our mates.'

'Oh. The name sounds ridiculous' I blurted out. 'I didn't mean to offend -'

'It's fine darling. Now that you've mentioned it, yes, it kinda sounds corny'

'Hey guys, what are you doing? Are you just going to stand there?'

Hearing Carly's voice made us laugh.

'Alright sweetie. We're coming.'

I sighed, putting back the white dress. I didn't like it. It was nice if you want to steal the spotlight with all the glitter it had. No, I simply want to blend in or to fade into the crowd. I scanned the store, Carly was still also looking for her 'perfect dress' as she calls it. Auntie was now holding her black dress in her hand as she was approaching the counter. Apparently this was one of their favorite botique.

I looked around and saw something that caught my attention. It was a white dress. A very simple white dress.

It's perfect!

'You'd look perfect in it dear.'

I turned around and saw her staring at the same dress. 'Why don't you try it on?'

I only gave her a smile and tried it on. At the dressing room of course.

'Let me see ! Let me see' Carly said while knocking on the door.
'Uh no.'
'What do you mean no? Open the door before I destroy it!'

So brutal.

'Fine.'

I opened the door slowly but Carly had other plans, she forcedfully opened the door and I was very thankful for my reflexes or I would have been sporting a bruise on my face. Geez.

'Oh my Moon Goddess! Dawn, you look so damn good in that dress! Levi's gonna want to take it off you!'
'C-carly!' I went red with her statement.
'What? It's the truth!'
'Just close your mouth'
'Take it off, were gonna buy it!'

After changing, I went to Carly feeling a bit sad.

' I don't have money. You know, I don't need this dress' I said, thinking that it's too much. After all, they were the ones who paid for my clothes earlier. 'I could just borrow from you!'

'No way' she said as she took the dress from me. 'Leave this to me'

I watched her as she strutted her way to the cashier. I looked around, trying to find Carly's mom but I couldn't find her. Instead, I walked towards a bench and took a seat.

I stretched my feet. Ugh, I'm exhausted already.

'Dawn?'

I stiffened. I know that voice. I turned around to see Jacob, John's Beta.

'Jacob? Why are you here?' I asked him as I stand up.

'I - that doesn't matter. What are you doing here? John's been looking everywhere for you!'

Suddenly, I felt afraid.

'Is he here? Please don't tell him!' I whispered. I didn't know why but i felt weak.

Jacob gave me a pitiful look.
'He's not here but Dawn, you know I can't do that. Even if I don't agree with what he did to you--'

'STOP' I raised my voice. ' It's all in the past now. Just don't tell him Jacob. Please.'

'I'm his beta Dawn. My loyalty lies to him.'

He started to reach for my hand but before he could, I dashed my way out of the store without looking back.

I ran as fast as I could towards the entrance. It didn't matter to me that Carly will look for me or that she might think I escaped.

No, what matters to me right now was that John can't catch me. That he can't lay his hands on me.

I could see the exit now and hope filled my system as I run towards it. But all was lost as I felt a hand grab me and stopped me from my tracks.

'Where the hell are you going?'
