School the next morning was strange. Every few minutes some random kid came up to me and greeted me as though they’d known me their whole lives, when in reality I had no idea who they were. When it first happened I didn’t understand what was going on. To be honest I thought someone was pulling a prank on me. But then I realized that pictures from the premiere would be all over the internet. All the attention was flattering at first, but then it just got annoying. By the time I was free for lunch I’d had it with all the questions and fake greetings.

“Hello,” Katie chirped as she slipped her arm through mine and pulled me along. I breathed a sigh of relief and was about to respond when someone approached.

“Hey. It’s Kodi, right?” The girl asked before I had the chance to slip away. Glancing at her, I tried to hide my annoyance and gave a curt nod. She smiled.

“We’re in fourth hour History together.” She explained. “Does Alexander Young smell as good as he looks?”

I couldn’t help the face that I made; seriously, out of all the questions to ask, she wanted to know what Alex smelled like? I couldn’t even remember what he smelled like, though I imagined it was some kind of designer cologne.

    “Uh…yeah?”

“Cool,” she grinned before skipping away. I shook my head in amazement as Katie dragged me forward. It took a while, but we finally made it to the cafeteria, where Kellan and Hue were waiting in our usual spot.

“Ah, there you are. Our little movie star.” Kellan grinned, sliding a tray of food toward me.

I laughed dryly and shook my head. “I go to one premiere and suddenly it’s like I’m freaking Angelina Jolie. I don’t like it.”

“Can we talk about the important thing here?” Katie demanded, taking a sip from her drink. I raised my eyebrows, biting into my sandwich.

“Where did you get that dress? It. Was. Gorgeous! I want one.”

Laughing, I put an arm around her shoulders and she scowled playfully.

“Mark took me to a friend of his; apparently she owed him a favor. And her name just so happens to be Poppy Fitzgerald.”

“No way!” Hue gasped, Katie staring at me incredulously with her mouth open. I just nodded with an excited grin and took another bite.

“Man, I am so jealous. I’ve looked up to her for ages. I want to be a designer like her someday.”  Hue stared off into the distance for a moment before sighing with longing and going back to her food.

“Are you coming to Justin’s party on Friday?” Kellan asked. “It’s an annual thing, sort of a tradition. He hosts the hottest Halloween party every year.”

“Though no one knows how,” Katie laughed. “The kid is a train wreck when it comes to organization.”

I had no idea who this Justin kid was and even if it was tradition I didn’t really want to see Ryan sucking face with some stranger. Just as I opened my mouth to say no, someone tapped my shoulder.
