Nettle's smile faded. Darkie looked shocked, Fang mad. Alice frowned, her tail lashing. Tessa just looked depressed.
"Maybe we got the dates mixed up..?" Nettle suggested feebly.
"We did NOT! I've been counting this day down!" Darkie protested hotly. Fang growled.
A thin black she-cat padded by, a sneer on her face.
"Small kitties didn't get apprenticed, eh? Guess Skythe thinks they can't handle it.." She mocked. Moon was suddenly there.
"Slash. Stop being so disrespectful to these kits. You know Skythe doesn't like that," The new medicine cat apprentice said calmly. Slash leered at him.
"And who's gonna stop m-" The she cat didn't even get to finish her sentence. Moon was on her.
The tom slashed at her nose, his lips curled back in anger. Slash dug her claws into his flank, dragging them down and leaving deep marks.
Nettle screamed as Fang and Darkie pulled Moon off her. Tessa stood, useless as ever. The medicine cat was in far worse shape than Slash, bleeding from deep wounds. She had not held back on him.
She snarled and pelted away, to which Darkie muttered, "Good riddance."
Moon sat down and winced, blood dripping down onto the alley floor.
"Moon, shouldn't you go treat yourself..?" Fang suggested gently. The medicine cat gave him a look.
"No shit."
Nettle giggled at Moon's remark, Darkie letting out a snort as well.
The grey tom stood up and padded away to the medicine dumpster.
The three siblings' smiles faded quickly.
"He didn't make us an apprentice!" Fang hissed. Darkie clenched his talons in anger.
"Yeah! What's up with him?!"
Nettle licked her paw and gently drew it over her ears. The she-cats green-eyed gaze was thoughtful.
"Maybe... maybe we could leave..?" She suggested softly. Fang jumped up.
"You mean leave Vein Alley?! We're not even apprentices!" He protested.
Darkie growled. "It's all Skythe's fault we're not apprentices!"
"I don't think that's a good idea.." Tessa said slowly.
Nettle pinned her ears against her head, mumbling, "It was just an idea.."
Darkie shook his head. "No! That's a great idea! Let's  sleep and then in the morning we can formulate a plan!"
Nettle smiled and bounded back to the nursery, curling up near her mother. Fang and Darkie curled up on either side, mumbling to each other. She didn't think much of it as sleep rose to claim her.
