Nettle opened her mouth.
She couldn't scream.
Her body wouldn't let her.
The She-Cats mouth opened at closed. Fang gasped as his eyes fell upon the broken body of his mother.
Tessa let out the scream Nettle was holding back.
"Momma?!" Darkie screeched, sounding like a kit. Nettle pressed her nose into her brother's fur, her forest green eyes filling with tears.
The two cats laid her body down, exchanged a few words, then carried it out of camp
"What happened..?" Nettle whispered. Fang and Tessa still looked shocked.
"We... we have to be apprentices. I don't think Skythe will care if we make ourselves apprentices.." Fang said softly.
Nettle nodded, sniffling.
"We've got to—" She began, but again, was struck by another tragic sight.
Moon had stumbled into the alley, large gasp marks across his eyes. Blood covered his white fur and his head jerked around, like he couldn't see. A fluffy black cat, Nettle knew her name was Lucky, rushed out to him with a screech.
"Who did this?! I WILL ROAST THEIR PELT OVER THE FIRE!" She screeched. Moon let out a wail. He wasn't sure who this was.
"Don't hurt me!"
Nettle looked at Fang, her eyes wide.
"We have to leave. Vein Alley isn't safe.." Fang choked out. "You're deputy. We're leaving in the morning."
Nettle shuddered, feeling a mix of emotions. Lucky had to come. Seth, who she'd been spending a lot of time with lately, had to come.
She had recently gotten close to the mean cat, Slash. Skythe has taken her as his mate and she'd become kind when Alice had died.
Fang sighed softly, limping into the apprentices den. Nettle followed sadly.
