"Do you want to do it right now?" I suggested, taking my upper lip between my teeth daringly.
"Is that a trick question?" He raised his eyebrows.
"No," I laughed.
"Then yes," he nodded, "Yes, if you're sure,"
I gleamed. It was exactly what we needed, right there and then.

"You two lovebirds in here?" I heard a voice as the door creaked open. There went our plans.
"Oh...uh, hey, Alby," I replied.
"I'm gonna need you to start work on the fields," he said, standing in the doorway. "I know a lot happened today, but we really need to get the compost spread so we can start replanting,"

"Oh, Yeah. Of course," I nodded.
"We'll be out in five," Newt confirmed.
"Alright," Alby said, closing the door.

"Rain check?" Newt suggested.
"Sure," I chuckled, a little disappointed.

We left the room together, making our way over to the crops to start work.

"Shuck, it's hot out today," I said under my breath after a few hours of working. Even though sweat beaded on my forehead and upper lip, there was no breeze to cool it down. The sun was relentless, the walls of the maze stopping any air from moving around.

I moved the compost, digging the shovel into the soft soil and kicking it deeper, levering it up, tossing it to the side into a wheelbarrow and repeating. Steam rose form the humid ground, making hair stick to my neck. My muscles were tired, and aching.

Lunch was my only solace. It gave us some time to try and cool down, but it was back to work within an hour.

"Are you ok, love?" A concerned voice directed itself at me.
"Huh?" I turned, wiping my forehead.
"You look like you need a break," He frowned.
"No no, what I need is a shower," I chuckled.
"We only have about an hour of work left. I'm sure no one will notice," He suggested.
"Well...," I sighed. The thought of being able to throw some unheated water over my head was tempting.

"I guess I could take some time, I'll do extra tomorrow," I agreed.
"That's my girl," he smiled, then continued shovelling compost into his own wheelbarrow, ready to be taken to the far side of the acreage.

I made my way over to the water pump, shielding my eyes from the blistering sunshine.

I held the bucket underneath the tap and pushed it back and forth, waiting for the sounds of trapped air bubbles in the pipe. The tap expelled some humid air, then splashed my arm with some warm water.
I ran my fingers under it, feeling as it slowly ran colder and colder, the water which had been trapped inside the pipe being cleared out and replaced.

I leaned my head forward, trying my best not to wet my clothes, then poured it onto the back of my neck. I shivered. The water was almost ice cold, the sun's heat not able to penetrate the soil as deep as pipe had been buried. I quickly patted my skin with the water before drying myself off with a rag.

Then some thoughts entered my mind, as I sat slumped on the wood pile.

Thoughts about Newt. I'd almost forgotten what we were planning. Was I excited? Nervous? Scared? Yes, yes, and yes. I was also curious. What would it be like? What would he be like? The longer I sat there, the more thoughts entered my mind.

'I need him,' raced around my head, along with anticipation and adrenaline. No way. No way was I getting turned on just thinking about it. Thinking about him. I'd been ignoring my needs for so long that I'd forgotten what it felt like to need. To want.

I made my way, deep in thought, back over to the farms where he was working. I stopped at the forest's edge, leaning against a tree in the shade at the outskirts of the field and gazing at him from a small distance. I stood for a few minutes, just watching. Thinking things over again and again, 'till he caught my gaze. He watched as I made my way to him.
