'Hey Lex, what did you mean when you told me about my scent?' Sam thought while walking to her history class.
Each creature has a scent that helps other creatures find them and also to tell them apart. No two species have the same scent. Wolves have a specific scent for each pack. That is why the she-wolf is so important. When a male Alpha takes a bride they have a mating ceremony and their scents become one, making a new scent. With the pack acceptance ceremony, the blood of the bride and the blood of the alpha is shared with each pack member from each pack, therefore bonding the pack together. Your scent is very unique due to the fact that you are the last remaining she wolf and also a Lycan. Every power hungry creature will be naturally drawn to you so we need to hide your scent. I have already masked myself so no one can sense me within you, but your new scent is still very prominent. What I need you to do is to think of a way to cover it.
Sam stopped walking and pulled a bottle of floral perfume from her bag and sprayed it on her pulse and throat.
'Is this enough' she asked. She could feel Lex nod then she was filled with silence.
"Lex?" she asked out loud. A few passing people looked at her then shook their heads. Smiling shyly she kept walking to her class.
Don't worry Sam I'm not going anywhere, but I need you to focus on class otherwise the teacher will suspect something. He is a wolf, one of the kings most elite. If he spots something is off with you he will not stop till he has figured out exactly what.
'Wait does he know I'm not human?' She asked slightly panicked.
No, but if he senses even the slightest change in you, he will.
Sam nodded and headed into the class, she found Lea at the back of the class throwing things at one of the other students. The moment Lea spotted her she waived her over, pushing the student next to her from his chair and shoving his books off the table. Sam laughed and took the seat. The guy stood up, but before he could say anything Sam gave him a 'don't-even-think-about-it' look. He grabbed his stuff and headed to another open table.
"What happened last night, one minute you were getting it on with mister hot stuff the next you just disappeared? What happened there? I mean come on that was such-" Lea's babbling was cut short by the professor walking in. Sam could feel Lex's tension, making her nervous in return.
'Lex, I need you to calm down.' She could feel her struggling to calm herself and after a while, they were both calm. The professor did not look her way nor did he give any indication that he knew something. After an hour of drawing doodles on her notebook and pretending to listen, the lesson was over. Lex was quiet most of the time, but she was also listening to things beyond the class walls.
When Sam stood to leave she heard a stressed Lex growl softly.
'Lex, what's wrong?' She asked looking around anxiously.
There is another wolf here, not the professor, an older wolf. His wolf has sensed me. We must leave immediately.
'How did he sense you, I thought you were cloaked?'
He is stronger than the average wolf; no matter how hard I tried he would have found us. We have to go NOW!
Sam grabbed her bag and headed for the door as calmly as her racing heart would allow her. She pushed pass her professor and almost stumbled into the hallway. She ignored Lea's calls as she dashed down the hall.
He is gaining on us, head for the forest. It's time for you to shift.
Sam almost tripped over her own feet as the words registered, but she dared not stop as she felt the sheer terror rip through her. Her pace increased and her sight became distorted.
