NICK'S POV
He could feel his anger boil higher and higher as he stared down at the club. His second-floor office looked into the club from above and he could see the clean-up crew as they swept the whole place. The club has closed its doors for the day until 15:00 PM. It was now 6:30 AM and he couldn't focus his exhausted mind. He tried to go back and do some of his paperwork, but the memories of her in his office standing against the desk, challenging him and his wolf, played on repeat in his head. After what felt like forever of him not being able to do his work he decided to head home.
"Sir." The rough voice of his right-hand man, muffled by the closed door, brought him back to the present.
"Yes?" he said not caring to open the door. Rax opened the door cautiously and entered the room.
"We have tracked the girl. She entered the woods, but she didn't come out till early this morning. She wasn't alone though there was a hell hound..." he paused for a second trying to explain what he saw. "I think it was a hell hound, just not as revolting as one, but still one. She said something to it before they separated and the beast went on its way." Rax sat down on one of the sofas in the corner of the office and was soon joined by Nick who nodded for him to continue. "We had one team follow the beast. As the reports come in I have concluded that it is heading for one of the portals leading to the underworld."
"Has it caused any trouble so far, or killed anyone?" Rax shook his head and frowned at the floor.
"No, sir. As a matter of fact, it has stayed in the shadows and actually avoided all populated areas. It hunted once, but it only caught a deer."
Nick sat up straight. "A deer? They don't usually eat any meat other than human or supernatural beasts." Rax nodded and took a large gulp of his drink.
"My thought exactly, but we will keep following it." Rax stood after finishing his drink and handed Nick a folder with pictures of the beast.
Nick took it but waited for Rax to leave before heading back to his desk and opening the folder. What he saw shocked him. Sam looked calm and almost as if she was in control of the beast as they stood to face each other. Her golden hair seemed to flow down her back in wondrous soft waves, her eyes seemed to glow, and even from the side, he could see her beauty. He looked at the beast and again he was confused. He was certain it was a hell hound but it looked completely different. Gone was the tar-like leathery skin. Instead, it seemed to be covered in a soft satin like fur. It seemed calm but powerful.
Nick sighed as he flipped through the pictures, trying to figure out what happened. He closed the file even more frustrated than before and placed it into his top drawer. He stood and pushed his fingers through his already messy hair.
Nick was exhausted as he pulled into his driveway. The sun was already up but he was far from awake. With heavy steps, he headed to his apartment building. He knew he could afford a house, but he preferred to live closer to work and therefore found the best apartment building less than 5 blocks from the club and bought the whole building. As the owner of the building, the tenants knew to stay clear and not to bother him. He chose the whole top floor of the building and modified it to be one large home.
As a wolf prince, he needed to be close to the forest to allow his wolf his freedom to run, but he was able to confine his wolf for more than 3 months without losing his mind. Though it's been only a few weeks since his last shift he felt he needed to let out so before going to bed he peeled off his clothes and headed to the large patch of land attached to the apartment block and shifted. He knew that at this hour on a Sunday very few people would actually be awake and he ran freely. His wolf growled as he snapped his jaws at the ground beneath him. His excitement to be free caused him to be silly as he ran in circles and played with the small animals that scurried on the ground. On one of his playful chases, he tripped over himself and did a small flip landing square on his back. He jumped up and shook out his black fur. The fur almost glowed in the light, and the wolf jumped back into his playful mode until Nick's exhaustion seeped into the spirit of the wolf. With a sigh, the wolf headed back to the building. He shifted back and Nick took control. He grabbed the shorts he usually kept in a hollow tree and put them on before leaving the safety of the treeline.
After a quick shower he passed out on his very comfortable bed, but fate would not let his mind rest as she sent him a horrid dream.
Nick found himself back at his club with his brother smirking at him, but this was not the scene he remembered, cause in his brother's arms was the limp form of his golden goddess. He was laughing and taunting him, but that was not what was angering him. She laid there barely breathing, her heartbeat as faint as the flutter of the wings of a butterfly, a thin stream of blood dripping from her mouth and a large silver dagger protruding from her chest. Her bare chest stained with her blood. Her amber eyes wide with pain stared up at him, begging him for his help, but his legs were dead and he couldn't move.
He watched in horror as his brother leaned down and kissed her bloodstained lips. He smiled evilly as he looked back up at him, his lips painted with her blood. He licked his lips before sinking his teeth into her skin, she gasped out loud and her eyes screamed for help, but still, he could not move. Again his brother laughed loudly, his voice an echo in the empty club, the gash in her throat did not bleed red, but a gold-like liquid spilled from it over her soft skin and dripped onto the dark floors.
His frustration grew as his brother dropped her to the floor to bleed out then turned and left, his figure faded into smoke when he was left alone with his goddess. He looked down, but instead of only her beautiful human form laying on the ground, her wolf was sitting there staring up at him with golden eyes. She sat quietly, but her form showed him she was ready to pounce if he dared to touch her.
Finally, he could feel his body allow him to move and he knelt down next to her. The wolf stood protectively over her body before she too started to fade. Nick realized that in fact, she was not fading, but her form was taking a more spiritual form and infusing itself with the body of his goddess.
Her eyes flew open and flickered between gold and amber before settling for amber with golden flecks. Her hair seemed to glow and the wound in her neck seemed to heal right in front of his eyes. He grabbed the dagger in her chest and felt the silver burn his flesh, but he pulled it from her chest before dropping it to the floor. The wound healed but left a faint scar.
She looked up at him and whispered softly. "Wake." He frowned down at her before feeling a strong gush of wind pulling at him. Suddenly she was no longer right in front of him but on the other side of the room.
He stood and tried to fight the wind to get to her, but it kept pulling him back. He caught a glimpse of her enchanting eyes before her image was swallowed by the darkness of his mind.
Nick woke up with a start and found himself on the floor next to his bed. His whole body seemed to be wet with sweat, but the thing that bothered him was the burning sensation in his hand. He switched on the light and gasped in shock. Burned into the skin of his hand was strange symbols not much different from the golden swirls in his goddess' eyes.
He went to the bathroom and washed his face. The burning in his hand lessened but the marks did not fade.
