"Aw girl, I know you ain't never met G's like us before. Never smoked trees like that before, tonight. Aw girl, we ain't gotta stay here too long. Chevy out front twenty-two's on. Any drink you den had, you got it at home."
Trey Songz voice blasted through the small red radio sitting on top of the gray counter. Eighteen-year old Yani bobbed her head as she dipped the gray and green dish towel into the hot soapy water. Her arms were half covered with suds and her fingers were beginning to prune up.
"People need to wash their own shit," she mumbled to herself before rinsing off the last fork. It was bad enough she had to go to school, but then she had to come home and clean up. She let the soap and water out of the sink right as the house phone rang.
"Yeah?" She asked answering the phone after looking at the number.
"Can a nigga get his hair braided or what?"
"Damn Corey, I just got home from school!" Yani said with an attitude that didn't bother Corey at all.
"And?"
"Give me some money and be here in thirty minutes," Yani said before hanging up. She sighed before sitting down at the wooden table.
"What's wrong boo?" Yani's twenty-three year old sister, Cashelle asked walking into the kitchen.
"Tired," Was Yani's response. "Are you on your way to work?"
"I have to go to the supply store and pick up some things for Shay." Cash said and Yani nodded, tapping her long acrylic nails on the table.
"Oh, can you pick up Bria on your way back? I told her she could come chill today so she could see Corey."
"Call her and tell her to be ready," Cash said before sliding her Razor in her purse and walking out of the door. Yani quickly decided to call Bria now before she forgot.
"Yeah." Bria's raspy voice came through the phone after Yani nodded her head to the Crime Mob call tone she had.
"Cash is coming to get you so be ready," Yani said.
"I've been ready!" Bria said causing Yani to laugh. "She is getting on my damn nerves."
Yani knew that Bria was talking about her mom. Ever since Bria and Corey got together, her mom had been acting out. Corey wasn't even that bad but the stuff he did, he had a reason to do it.
"Alright then, I'll see you when you get here." Yani said.
"Cool."
After they hung up, Yani finished cleaning up the kitchen. Since she had nothing else to do, she decided to watch the rest of the countdown on BET.
Whoever's countdown it was, Dear Momma by 2pac was their number ten video. Yani sighed as she thought about the song. How did 2pac have so much love for his mom after all she did wrong? Yani held so much hatred in her heart for her so called mother that nothing she did would fix it. Even if she came back today and begged for forgiveness on her hands and knees, it would be ten years too late.
Knowing everything that her and her sister had been through in the last ten years made Yani that more upset.
As her temper rose, she turned the channel and ended up watching some sad movie on Lifetime.
"Better off without them, shit." She mumbled to herself in an attempt to erase it from her mind.
Cashelle blasted Kelly Rowland's new song in her black 2003 Alero as she drove down Johnson Avenue towards Crowning Glory. She thought it was funny how it was suppose to be her day off and Shay still had her running around.
