Shanaya felt like hitting her head against the wall a million times. She knew that taking his help was a mistake. Now, her business was in grave danger because they were caught, no - scratch that - She was caught in his room.
And now, what should she say? What excuse could she make? Should she tell the truth?
She managed to sneak a glance at Abhinav who, to her dismay, was equally tight lipped as her.
Say something!
She glared at Abhinav, signalling towards his mother.
Somehow the silent urge of Shanaya reached Abhinav's mind and he went near his mother,
"Mumma, She was just helping me with something," he said, smiling in a way which he knew will melt his mother.
His smirk was washed off his face the next moment.
Guess, he was wrong.
His mother's venomous gaze didn't deter. Shanaya raised her eyes to look at Mona Kapoor only to see, much to her surprise, that her murderous glare wasn't aimed at her. It was aimed at her own son.
"I know very well what you were taking her help in," her eyes narrowed, "don't play your bed and bang games with her, I am warning you."
"Mom!!!" Abhinav exclaimed, exasperated and horrified at hearing 'bed and bang' from his mother.
"What? Do you think I don't know what you do? I am your mother." Mona raised her eyebrow and smirked.
It took everything in Shanaya's power to not laugh out loudly. Abhinav's mother knew of her son's...little games and she basically warned him to not play with her. It was hilarious to see his bewildered face.
But Shanaya also felt warmth surge in her heart at the thought that Mrs. Mona Kapoor was looking out for her. She gulped down hard to swallow her emotions.
She wasn't one to show emotions.
Suddenly, Mona cursed, slapping her hand on her forehead.
"Shit! I almost forgot," she grasped her son's hand and practically dragged him out of the room, "come fast!"
Shanaya follwed them, too amused to even utter a word.
"Wait mom! What happened? Where are you taking me? You do know that I can walk, right?"
"You walk like a tortoise," Mona teased as she quickly descended the stairs with Abhinav barely trying to keep up.
"What!?"
Shanaya felt like rolling on the floor laughing, she had never ever seen a scene like this one.
A tall muscled young man huffing and puffing as his short and petite mother dragged him downstairs, all the while teasing him on how he was like a sloth.
Even though Abhinav was complaining, he seemed to enjoy his mother's fiery attitude.
"Can you atleast tell me why are you in ....such a hurry!?"
They reached downstairs, where there were a few guests, either drinking softdrinks or having some starters. The main function was outside in their huge garden.
"Sussanne is here."
The look on his face formed of utter happiness, which formed a pit of unease in Shanaya's stomach.
"Are you serious!? Like, she is really here? Here?" Abhinav shouted, too ecstatic to notice the sudden octave of his voice.
Who the hell was she? Shanaya thought.
His mother's amused nod was all that took Abhinav to run off to the main area, eager to meet Sussanne.
Not knowing what should she speak to Abhinav's mothers, she just smiled a little and said,
"I think I should leave....um...I have to see some arrangements."
Mona only smiled at her and nodded. With that she went off in the direction Abhinav had gone.
Shanaya stood there, not understanding the sudden anger she was feeling.
She called her employee, Maya and asked about the flower dias. On learning that everything was right in its place for the function, from decorations to food, she bit her lip, unsure of whether to go where everybody, including Abhinav is there or not.
She hurriedly went in the main area, her long chiffon dress flowing with the gust of wind at her speed.
She didn't know why, but she just wanted to see the girl that had bought such a sincere and...and caring expression on Abhinav's face.
She was just curious. Yes, just curious.
*******
She slowed down on seeing so many important guests happily chatting or sipping on their drinks.
She didn't want them to think of her as some weird girl who was running like crazy in the middle of a marriage functions.
She tried to find Abhinav, wanting to see him, to see how he is behaving with that girl... Sussanne.
A buzz vibrated in her purse, making her groan. She pulled out her phone to see who was calling her when she had so much important work to do, like finding Abhinav.
Maya.
With a huff she slided the answer button and put the old Samsung phone to her ear, the metal of the cellphone tinkling with the rhinestones studded earrings she wore.
"What happened?" She asked, her tone clipped.
"Ma'am, the Carnations Company just called me, they are demanding more price than quoted for the flowers," Maya timidly replied.
"B*st*rds! They purposely increased their price just before the event, so we can't cancel the order!" Shanaya hissed, cursing under her breath.
Maya remained silent, not wanting to anger her boss even more.
"Its 4 PM right now," Shanaya looked at her wrist watch, "tell them that I would like to meet the manager at 6 PM today, anyhow!"
She was furious.
She turned around the corner and headed towards the exit gate when a loud laugh stopped her.
It was a very familiar voice.
She turned and saw Abhinav.
Hugging a gorgeous girl, too tightly.
She must be Sussane, she thought, her anger increasing ten fold.
They didn't see her fron where they stood, hugging each other.
"I missed you, Abhi," she said, in a voice that Shanaya thought was similar to the screeching sound a chalk made on blackboard.
"I missed you too, Susy," Abhinav said, a very big grin gracing his face.
Shanaya bolted out of the main gate, her face red in anger, ready to take it out on the manager of the Carnations Company.
Abhi! Susy! My foot! She huffed.
