Prologue

NAOMI

I wiped the blood on my sleeves, dropping Satoshi's arm. "Wow..." Ayumi said, showing me his other arm. "Keep it. I don't want it." "He's too good to be thrown in the dumpster. I'll keep them in my closet," I say, going to my messanger bag and stuffing them in there. "Have some tissues?" Ayumi plucked two out of the box, handing them to me.

I wrapped them around the bloody roots, zipping my bag back up. "Good." I gave Ayumi a thumbs-up. She squinted at me. "We need to move on..." she whispered. "We need to forget the dead people. It will only sadden us." "It's no fair," she muttered. "No one deserves to be forgotten." "I know," I say, sprawling out on the floor. "Look, it's too late and too rainy to be heading home. Sleep here for the night?"

"We should contact our mothers first..." Ayumi suggested. "I'll just text her, saying that I'l be staying at a friend's house," I say, flipping open my phone. "Yeah. Me too, I guess."

Whoever heard of a sleepover at a school? Well, who would've been at Heavenly Host? I guess I'll just have to ignore the weirdness in the past...

...and focus on the horrors in the future.
